Begin Log

Ah, Comic-Con. Also known as: Let's get together with a hundred thousand of our bestest buddies for a long weekend! Rumor has it that the con may have to move to a different building soon, or even a different city, but for now the Prospect Convention Center still manages to contain it.

There are seminars, for the fans who want to go really in depth on some subject. There are movie and TV previews. There are dealer booths (the one for The Inspector Chronicles always seems to be a little crowded). And, of course, there are plenty of cosplayers here to see and be seen: ranging from casual ones that mostly just consist of picking out the right set of street clothes, all the way up to near-professional outfits that probably took months of work and thousands of dollars.

Bronwyn is dressed pretty much as desced. Mismatched, a little makeup, and the cutest pair of little woof ears you ever did see. She's looking around at .. EVERYTHING!!!! and dragging Kass along with her. "OH! Look! Look! LOOK!" She's pointing, turning, pointing, turning. She isn't even giving the poor guy a chance to see things before she's moving on. Someone dressed as a Klingon lumbers into view and she drops his hand from hers and brings them up under her chin in a squee of sheer manic delight. "Oh, see! You aren't the only one that didn't wear a costume," she mumbles to him quietly.

"Yea...I'm here." Velok says into his phone as he waits, awkwardly, at a crosswalk, surrounded by people far more dressed up for the event than he is. He's wearing a lightblue teeshirt with a hoodie unzipped down the middle over it, falling down just at the waist of his tan shorts. A strap runs across his front, keeping the tube along the square of his back. "Yea, I got the tickets. Only needed one, not sure if the other will be used. I'll let you know if I see him. You owe me. This doesn't count for the movie premier arrangement." With that, Velok repockets the phone, picking a bit at silk fingerless handwrappings as he wanders in through the herd of visitors to the convention, handing over the ticket and entering the convention proper.

Gangway for General Mayhem! The girl with the gas mask pushes to get inside. She'd been camping out to be first but then ended up having to go home for some reason, so now she's behind schedule! "Wrenners better show if she knows what's good for her!" she says to the pale-haired girl behind her. "I bet Kory Bing puts me in her comic," she declares. "HEY QUIT PUSHING!" she yells back behind her. Then they're in! Whoot!

Kass is drug about through the convention but he doesn't seem to be paying a /whole/ lot of attention to the world around him mostly just those that are drifting about in strange costumes. He looks back down toward Bronwyn as she keeps tugging him about and even when she offers him those quiet words he tells her in kind, "Well I still don't get the costumes." He tells her simply with a frown upon his lips and he takes a deep breath before letting it out in turn, "They do not look comfortable at all." He says eying the Klingon for a couple moments as he goes wandering by.

When compared to the loud, gas masked General, Pain is rather quiet, almost like a wraith. When someone is left reeling from Mayhem's passage, Pain will carefully right them or steady them in her passing. "She will show if she can." Murmurs the pale haired one, her voice an almost too quiet whisper in this hub-bub.

To his credit, the Klingon stays in character, waving his obligatory bat'leth and grunting something in klingonaase. Okay, so maybe he's from the SCA wing of the Trekkies. Somewhere behind him, a reedy guy with glasses and no costume is handing out flyers advising how to protect against con crud.

Bronwyn laughs at Kass, giving his arm a pat. She reaches down to drag his rather well-sculpted, slightly mobile tail, and wraps it over her arm. It'll fall off if it keeps hanging on the floor. Her eyes widen at the Klingon and she nods, making little grunty, growly sounds in his direction and she takes the flier from the geeky guy. "OH! And con crud! Is that like... what the heck is that?" She cocks her head as she peers at the man. "And what are you dressed up as?"

Velok furrows his brow when he enters and sees...everything. Neeeeerds! He reaches out and takes one of the convention programs, continuing on to a quieter area, or as quiet an area as he can find, no doubt still surrounded by various people. He leans up against a wall, staring down at the paper and retrieving his phone from his pocket once more, texting away. He holds the program to his phone and snaps a picture, then crumples up the paper and tosses it into one of the bins. Both his hands shove firmly into the pockets of his hoodie, walking along.

General Mayhem grunts right back, speaking more pig than latin. It comes out as a mumble from beneath her gas mask, the lenses of which fog up on her from talking too much. She resorts to gesturing in the universal language while she waits for her gas mask to clear again. "I got to find an issue of The Human Fly number seven," she tells Major Pain. "Did you see Sargeant Noname or Invisible Grrrrl around anywhere?"

Kass looks back toward Bronwyn as she takes him about by that tail and he wanders along with her as they do thinking about it a little bit his nose wrinkles in thought. He watches her talk to the Klingon who is no doubt looking at her oddly from it but they get the flier and he tilts his head to the side peeking down, "A con crud? That is something they scrape off the shoe." He offers to her helpfully.

Pain shakes her head, "Invisible Grrrrl has escaped my notice." She replies rather seriously. "What's the Sargeant's name?" That's said just as quietly as everything else. When Mayhem stops to look at a display, Pain stops as well, perhaps not realizing that she's blocked Velok's path.

"Sargeant Noname *is* her name," General Mayhem indicates. "She doesn't like to be called names on account of she's a hippie," she explains. She lifts her gas mask up and gives the lenses a wipedown and is about to slip it back down over her face when she catches some people staring at her. "What!?" she growls. She jerks the mask back into place. "Invisible Grrrl usually hangs out inna park. She better be here too," she indicates. "Can't be Infinity Seven without all five of us showing up."

"It's a type of cheese," Flyer Guy explains to Bronwyn. "No, seriously-- you get this many people together at once, you figure /somebody's/ got an infectious disease? Con crud." Hey, it makes sense to him, anyway. He offers a flyer to her and Kass before moving on.

Heading the other direction, not-so-politely shouldering their way through the crowd, are two attendees dressed in utilitarian black coveralls and balaclavas. The male of the pair (judging by general body shape) veers over just long enough to tap General Mayhem on the arm. "Aim for the head," he says. Wait, what? And then they're off again, breaking into a full-out run as a bit of a gap in the crowd opens up.

Velok, unfortunately, breaks the first rule of being at a convention. Much like a hospital, never ever stop looking at where you're walking. The tall Brit is looking around at the sands, at the sights, taking in as much as he can and giving off the obvious look of a man searching for someone. This all leads to him gently colliding with Major Pain, his eyes widening and head turns as his hands quickly reach out to stabilize the costumed awesomeness in case he almost knocks her over. "Oh, I'm so sorry." He apologizes, looking at her neck, then towards General Mayhem.

Bronwyn nods to Kass. "It might be. Or something like... hmmmm... I don't know. Maybe something that gets stuck between the toes." She turns to watch the people who tag and run and her eyes widen again. "OH! That! I want to do that. We could talk to EVERYONE! And run around and say things like 'aim for the head' and 'you don't want to drink that'." She nods sagely.

General Mayhem passes by the 'Con Crud' guy just as he's talking about infectuous diseases. She snatches one of his pamplets and slips it into a pocket, out of sight. "For Wren-Wr..." She stops when some dude touches her person. She starts to bluster but then it dawns on her. She looks back at Lihi. "Comic-Convicts. We've got trouble. Go trip the alarms. I'll follow the Toonerists."

Pain nods slightly at what Mayhem says, then is suddenly rocking forward a little as someone big knocks into her from behind. Those hands steady her so she looks up and back over her shoulder. "There is no damage to my frame." She says in that almost too quiet voice of hers.

Velok looks between both the two costumed ones, his hands remaining on Major Pain to ensure stability, then lets his hands fall back away. He glimpses once more to the back of her neck, then off towards the fleeing convicts with a curious glint in his eye. He peers towards the rank listed on Pain's outfit, then nods towards her. "Good. Quite the outfit." he says, stepping back and away to give space for a chase all while smiling politely. He looks back around, retrieving his phone and turning it on, scrolling through it, then darkening the screen.

Kass tilts his head to the side for a moment when he hears the words spoken by Brownyn looking a touch confused as he thinks about it, "Yes, we could do that. But they already used the first line we should just keep coming up with more and better ones." He points out to her with a bob of the head as he thinks about it leaning abck against her a little as she takes him about using that odd little tail as a leash.

Major Pain gets lost in the crowd as General Mayhem stalks after the pair of balaclava'd utilitarian black-coveralled non-geeks, trying to see what they're up to. She tries to look inconspicuous, which, given where she is, she just might be able to pull off for once.

A guy in zombie makeup stumbles into view, looking around and then charging forward quickly, almost as quickly as those runners earlier. No shambler here!

Then he grabs another guy's wrist, locking his hands around it and lifting it up, and proceeds to bite the man's little finger off at the second knuckle. The guy screams in agonizing pain, instinctively throwing his body weight in the opposite direction, but failing to break the zombie's grip.

If this is an elaborate act, then it's in /extremely/ poor-- er, taste.

As the victim's outcry shatters through the air, just about everyone else in the vicinity fucking STOPS what they're doing, turning and attempting to process this turn of events. /Is/ it an elaborate act? Is it real? That shit isn't /real/, is it?

Major Pain lost sight of Mayhem, then finds it when someone screams in pain! Hey, does that mean they are yelling for her? She's imediately in motion, moving that way instead of away from it.

Bronwyn is JUST about to say something or other to Kass when the scream shatters the air. Oh.. Oh.. oh FUCK! Bronwyn drops Kass's tail with a thud and scoots instinctively behind him. Granted, the blood, if there is any, makes her giggle with glee, but she KNOWS where she's supposed to be.. and out in front JUST ain't it.

Cynthia peeks around a Fem Shep she had been admiring and grins "Wow! That's pretty damn realistic!" She pulls out her battered cell and holds it up to take a picture of the graphic scene. Flash! This is so going on her FacePlace. The bouncy little thing looks around with her messenger bag full of swag. Some of it even purchased.

It's the agonizing scream that draws Velok's gaze first, luckily able to count that whole over 6 foot height business as a bonus as he easily looks at what's going on. Zombie makeup, guy screaming, bit finger, blood. Velok's eyebrows furrow, then raise impressively. "People /really/ get into character at these things..." He comments, even if everyone else is acting as if it's totally serious. Velok looks back down towards his phone, raising it up and taking a snapshot of the scene. "I guess this is what roleplaying is..." Who knew.

Kass frowns as his tail gets dropped and Bronwyn scoots around behind him he looks back to her thinking it over a couple moments. He does wander a few steps over more because he knows that the one behind him wants to take a peek at it not that he seems to care overly much. His head cants to the side and he thinks about it for a couple moments before he looks over his shoulder toward Bronwyn, "Oh look, that's what they're serving for lunch. Does everyone get their own you think?"

General Mayhem hears the howl of pain behind her but she's after ther pair that are just ahead of her. She knows Major Pain's somewhere back there and will handle whatever's going on. "Hey you!" she yells at the couple. "Assassins!"

The assassins are already gone, though, rounding a corner just as Mayhem shouts at them. The zombie performers (?) are still moving as well, the victim finally breaking free and promptly collaping to the ground in shock under his own momentum. Most people are running away, or trying to, especially those who were closest. Some security personnel are trying to push their way closer. One gray-haired woman, meanwhile, swoons on wobbly legs and collapses; the balding man next to her quails with renewed worry, kneeling down and squinting at her face.

Once Bronwyn is behind Kass, she has her finger through his belt loop, one on the left, one on the right to keep herself close to him as she peeks around, her big brown eyes blinking. She shrugs. "Seems like a waste. Just take the whole hand, don't you think?" She frowns and looks around the place briefly, scooting herself half an inch closer to Kass. Alert eyes skim the room to see what will happen next. There is a sense of anticipation here and her little pink tongue glides over her lips, wetting them. And then there is ALL THE COLLAPSING AND RUNNING AWAY!!!!!!!! Bronwyn giggles and scoots out from behind Kass for a better view and she even waves Cynthia over as she spots her. TO.. um... protect her! that's right!

Cynthia takes another picture then notes her new friend, she waves excitedly back at Bronwyn and starts to casually walk over towards her, ducking and weaving around running and panicking people. "Hey! Great show isn't it?! So realistic. I wonder if they used some kinda gelatin fingers around candy bones or something." another flash from the phone as she takes another picture of the 'performers'. A normal person might be able to detect the real fear and panick going on here. However Cynthia has the empathy of a rather uncaring table leg that stubs your toe in the middle of the night not out of spite but because it didn't care you were walking there and then blames you for it.

Moving with grace through the running, pushing throngs, Major Pain is still heading towards the trouble.

"Hey! Wait!" General Mayhem yells. Her voice gets plaintive since no one is listening to her. Stupid criminal-geeks. She bounds after them, following around the corner. Hopefully she's not about to go through a portal to another universe.

"No...stop...don't..." Velok says with a particularly droll, Willy-Wonkaesque tone of voice as people start to flood towards him. As the crowd of people trying to escape the HOLY SHIT ZOMBIE overtakes him, he turns and seemingly joins them, wandering away all stealthy like as the phone is replaced into his pocket. Sneaky Sneaky Velok makes his way towards a secluded room, opening the door and ducking inside. Maybe he had to go to the bathroom.

The female assassin is waiting for Mayhem, just out of sight. She spins just as Mayhem comes around the corner. She grabs Mayhem by the collar and SLAMS her up against the wall. No damage. She isn't trying to hurt her. "No. Go fix that shit NOW," the woman growls and gives her a little shake.

Kass tilts his head to the side watching it all and he feels Bronwyn clinging to him like that the odd tail dragging along beside them as they move about. He looks up as Cynthia heads over and he tilts his head to the side, "Ooooh... I want a taste." He says before looking to Bronwyn and asking her, "Don't you think that will sound delicious?" He asks her with a tilt of the head as he ponders it a while longer. He takes a slow breath in before letting it out trying to figure out what all the running about is for. It was just a finger after all.

General Mayhem's mask fogs up with how fast and deep she's breathing. She wasn't expecting that. "Whu shu?" she asks. Too low. "WHAT SHIT!?" she yells through the mask. She can't see and some assassin chick has her pinned up against the wall. "HOW DOES THE SHIT GET FIXED!?" she demands, swiping at her lenses from the outside to no avail.

Reaching the site of the Mayhem (not the General), Pain reaches out to try to grab the Zombie by the hair at the back of the head, intending to crank that shit up and get control.

Most people, most /sane/ people, are motivated to damn well /make/ their escape work. They mostly still hang on to their swag bags, but they're starting to organize makeshift tactics for how not to trip over each other's feet and get chomped before they can get back up again.

Assassin #1 is not waiting around for conversation, not even the disturbingly heated sort of conversation that involvs shoving someone up against a wall. He just takes Mayhem and shoves her back /toward/ the epicenter of panic, before continuing his flight away from it. Either he's a yellow-bellied coward... or he's rushing off to deal with something even worse. Now there's a comforting thought.

The zombie stumbles around some, having trouble getting close enough to anyone now to take a bite out of them. Major Pain solves /that/ problem nicely, though. It reaches up with one arm and throws its legs forward, trying to drop down and pull her along with.

"Aim for the head! FUCK!" The female assassin releases Mayhem and looks around, back toward the action. "Shit." She takes off after the larger assassin and leaps nimbly over someone who stumbles through her path.

General Mayhem can't see. And she's just been pushed back in the direction the mounting chaos. And there are people screaming! So she does what she always does and flails around blindly, trying to kick and punch at anything in her vicinity that seems remotely menacing. The female assassin's voice suddenly fills her ears. "AIM FOR THE HEAD!" she yells, pulling up her gas mask, adjusting the glasses that she's got underneath, then looking around for the source of trouble.

Cynthia wanders forward and takes a picture of Major Pain struggling with the zombie "This is really cool. So how did you arrange this? I was right, right? Gelatin and a candy bone? I mean I could totally see making a wafer bone looking thing and some sugar and red food coloring for the blood." She squats down and sticks her finger in the splattered blood and pops it into her mouth "Hmm, I think you got the recipe wrong and used salt instead of sugar though the copper to make it taste..." Cynthia blinks and stands back up staring at the zombie 'actor' and Major Pain "HEY, I think this guy ACTUALLY bit the other guy. That bloods way too real!"

Bronwyn, in the shuffle, gets pushed back away from Kass. As much as he would like to jump into the fray, he turns when Bronwyn loses her grip on his belt loops and trudges through the throng toward Bronwyn.. away from the action for the moment.

The door to the room opens again and out steps Velok. He looks relatively the same, except for a silver bow now strapped along his back, secured fully around the tube. "I fucking hate surprises, you didn't tell me about this. Is this why you wanted me to go instead of you?" he asks into the phone he has pressed up against his head. He doesn't seem scared or angry, more annoyed as he moves back towards the vicinity of the action. He finds the pillar he previously was leaning on and notices Major Pain in trouble. With how everyone is acting, he's not entirely sure if it's actually a zombie or not, the phone coming back down and going into his pocket. "Well...she's certainly the very model of a modern major general..." He comments quietly to himself.

The old woman who passed out sits up, much to her husband's relief. He reaches out for her and she reaches out for him. He wraps his arms around her waist to help her up and she bites into his neck. Blood squirts everywhere as she hits the carotid and the man flails and screams and punches the woman in the head, which serves to dislodge her from his throat, along with a rather large chunk of flesh. The man's hand comes up and slaps over the wound while blood squirts around his fingers.

Pain keeps the zombie from biting her, she reapplies pressure, trying to wrest the zombie to the ground, keeping his teeth from her person.

"HOLY JESUS FUCK! ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!" General Mayhem exclaims. She sees the old woman taking a bit out of the old man and rushes towards them.

By this point, the security guards - remember them? with the uniforms and the functioning sidearms? - are conferring via walkie-talkie. "We /appear/ to have an unauthorized simulated zombie attack!" "Crowd is panicking!" "EMTs to--" When one of them spots the old woman, though, he decides he's seen enough. He brings up his gun and shoots her. In the leg, because he /could/ still be horribly wrong.

Cynthia blinks looking down at the woman that just bit the man. Then over at the struggling Major Pain "Oooh, I think you have a problem on your hands? Do you need help? Cause I think you now have 3 Zombies. I could help if you want. But I can't promise it won't get messy." as then BANG, shot to the leg, but you're too late, you give security a bad name. Cynthia giggles, entirely inappropriately as she reaches into her bag "Wow, this is going sideways fast."

Pain gets the hair on the zomie cranked up good and tight in her fist, kicks him behind the knees and gets him down to the ground, those hungry teeth safely away from her. His scrabbling nails find purchase in leather boots that do not give way to skin. She lifts her head, looking for someone close by that is not in a panic to help her ...somehow. She can only hold him at this point.

The woman is shot, but that doesn't stop her from clamboring to her feet, the blood oozing rather than spurting from her leg. Her husband falls backwards onto his butt and then his hands drop and he falls backwards in what appears to be a seizure.

The gunshot draws Velok's gaze quickly, looking towards where the security are shooting, towards the husband falling down and wife standing up, then over towards Cynthia and the military ladies. "They're contagious." He points out, looking off towards the other ends of the convention center, then keeping his eyes focused on the woman and the husband, the husband in particular. Velok pushes himself off the pillar and wanders over towards Pain and Cynthia and Mayhem. "Did anyone see these people when they came in?"

Cynthia smiles at Pain, all friendly as her hand comes out of her bag and theirs a flick and click. OOH someone is going to get their guest pass revoked by having a concealed weapon in the con! She looks over at Velok as she casually stabs the grappled Zombie in the head that Pain is holding "Nope! I was checking out this great Fem Shep outfit. Hey there. How are you doing?" STAB STAB "Enjoying the comic con?"

Whoa! Now somebody is shooting. General Mayhem decides that the old lady situation is currently under control and heads over towards Major Pain. "Hold em steady. I'm gonna punch em inna head!" she announces. Then she hears Velok say that the zombies are contagious. She grumps. "Yeah, I know," she says to herself. "I still wanna meet Kory Bing." She drops the gas mask back over her face.

The hell? Blood isn't supposed to ooze like that. That doesn't even look like blood any more, or maybe it's just coagulated while it was still inside the body. While the old woman struggles, the security guard shoots her in the other leg, then - deciding he's done enough to stop her from going anywhere fast - rushes over to attend to the husband. "Sir, we're going to get you medical attention ASAP!" /Someone/ is genre-blind.

The old lady continues on, reaching out for Mayhem, her mouth, dripping with her former husband's blood, gapes wide. Maybe a little TOO wide.

And the security guard leans over the husband and he opens his eyes, reaching up to the guard for help... and starts to drag him down toward him. It doesn't take much. Just far enough to get his hand to the man's mouth where he gets a rather serious chomp, losing a thumb and part of his palm

General Mayhem stops running around and just stands still. There's more muffled sounds from beneath the gas mask and the lenses fog up again. She doesn't seem to be aware of old ladies reaching out for her just now.

Even as Cynthia is stabbing the zombie that Pain's holding down, said male is still bucking and trying his damndest to wrest himself free. Pain's somber gaze notices the trouble that Mayhem is about to encounter. Without missing a beat, she (Pain) looks down and reaches out to cup the male under the chin. The next move is swift and concise as she snaps his neck, severing impulses from brain to body. The second she feels his body no longer moving, she'll be up and ready to head off after Mayhem.

Cynthia stirs her knife around in the eye trying to poke the corpse animating part of the zombie brain then jumps back as Pain snaps it's neck. Major Pain gets a bright grin and a thumbs up as Cynthia begins sauntering over to the security guard and old man with ichor dripping knife in hand. "Hey Velcro." directed at Velok "Pop your switch-bow and play twing twang Legolas." she grins and begins creeping towards the bitten guard and old man.

"But..they're not...dead..." Velok says rather quietly as Pain snaps the man's neck, falling quiet. Okay, NOW that one is dead. He shuffles a bit and looks back around. He reaches down into his pocket with his right hand. His eyes widen as he sees the old lady reaching out for Mayhem, withdrawing his hand from his pocket. He quickly brings his arm up and swings it down, looking pretty similar to throwing a baseball towards said zombie lady. He looks back towards Cynthia as he shakes his head. "It's just a prop." He liiiiiiiiiies.

General Mayhem stays completely still while the world goes crazy around her. Noises continue to emanate from inside the gas mask.

A prop, huh? That sure looks like a real throwing knife/star/something that Velok just threw at Old Woman Zombie. She clutches at the point of impact like it was real. Then... she straightens up like it was nothing. No sign of the weapon; it must have fallen down onto the ground. Even her legs look less damaged than before. She turns and starts walking/limping toward Velok.

The guard is bleeding profusely from one hand, clasping the other one over it in a desperate attempt to not pass out and die of extreme blood loss. His gun skitters away and slides to a stop several feet away.

The man who just bit the guard ambles to his feet and starts toward ... Cynthia! He just plods in that direction, jaws snapping and teeth gnashing.

Still moving with grace, Pain dodges around anyone between her and Mayhem. When she's in front of the statue in the gas mask, she will swipe her hands swiftly on the 'cape' and reach up to remove the gas mask, expression alert.

Cynthia giggles and goes scampering towards the fallen gun as the zombie man begins coming towards her "Down boy! Down!" and scoops it up, she glances back as she's skipping about giggling. "Is this normal for comic cons? Cause I'm TOTES coming back next year and bringing my machine gun if it is." Maybe she's not taking it seriously. Or maybe she treats life and death situations like this. Or maybe you're being helped by someone that is batshit insane. Either way Cynthia spins and aims the gun at the one following her.

Velok is (hopefully) able to move faster than walking/limping zombie, though he knows just how fast that first one was charging previously. He circles around, keeping old lady attention focused till he can reach where she was when he threw his weapon, reaching down and mimicing scooping it off the floor. He reaches back towards his tube, pulling out an arrow and notching it within his Legolas bow. He raises the bow and just watches the old lady warily, continuing to slowly move to keep the zombie following him and at bay, apparently attempting to keep this one alive...for now. "What's wrong with her mask?" He asks out towards Pain.

General Mayhem's eyes are closed and her features are set in an expression of extreme concentration. She's also singing in a very pleasing voice. "Mornie utulie (Darkness has come...Believe and you will find your way... Mornie alantie (Darkness has fallen)... A promise lives within you now..."

The old man takes a shot to the head; it glances off his skull rather than going clean through, but it does stagger him, sending him down to his knees. For a few seconds. His erstwhile wife is still stalking after Velok, but not quickly.

Scene-set: FUCKING ZOMBIES. One hasn't moved for a while, it's suffered multiple stab wounds to the head and a broken neck. An old woman (GSWs to both legs) is chasing Velok. An old man (GSW to head) is chasing Cynthia. And a security guard is sitting down, howling in pain as he clamps one hand over the bloody mess of the other - until he abruptly keels over onto his side, still breathing, but that spurting pattern to his blood suggests an artery. At this rate, he's not long for this world.

When Pain sees Mayhem's face and hears her singing, she turns her back to the woman and goes into guard dog mode. She glances at Velok long enough to shake her head in a 'no' fashion, then starts to move around Mayhem to watch for any aproaching trouble.

Cynthia looks at the smoking gun with. Dissapointment. She glances at the security guard "Why couldn't you have been a size queen and brought a bigger gun?" then ponders glancing at Velok "Hey Velcro, what do you make of this? You think if they were healed after being bitten it might save them? I mean I could give it a try with the guard guy right quick. Cause he's about to bite it. What do you think?"

Aiden was already here! Because.. um.. she's a NERD! That's why. Don't judge. Probably half ya'll were here already. Geeks. Anyway! Aiden comes dashing down the nearest set of stairs at breakneck speed, her peacebonded, totally fake sword being brought up as she launches herself down the stairs.

Lazarus comes speeding up to the scene on his fancy ass expensive motorcycle, coming to a screeching half outside. His black mirrored shades are in fact over his gaze as he kicks his kickstand down and simply begins to approach the building, reaching up to press the side of them promptly as he enters the scene. He takes a moment to run his scans, while observing the carnage from the entrance, identifying targets as it were.

Velok has his bow out, has an arrow in said bow, and is pointing it pretty accurately towards Zombieface. He seems to be playing the worlds slowest game of tag with the old lady zombie, just leading her around in a carrot-on-stick scenario, except he's the carrot. His bow is totally a prop, right? Totally. Probably cost thousands of dollars and will break at the first hint of use. "If you've got something, feel free. Otherwise, I think the security guy had the right idea." He says towards Cynthia, only taking occasional glances around but trying to keep his eye on creepy old lady.

That bolt-gun grey Aston Martin rolled up to the scene looking smooth as hell, parking quickly with a screech of tires. The doors open, Priest and Deacon both stepping out from opposite sides of the vehicle. Mirrored shades firmly in place

Cynthia dashes over to the hurt guard and lays a hand on him "In the name of Stan Lee, Steven Spielberg and Joss Whedon... BE HEALED!" as she waves the smoking gun in her hand dramaticly

Deacon adjusts his shades after exiting the vehicle, taking note of the motorcycle outside before, well, he takes off. There isn't time to waste, so he heads on in at a run - it's an emergency after all. Soon enough he catches up with Lazarus, his shades come off momentarily as he fiddles with them, and they are replaced. "I see you got the call too, Doctor." He says, though he isn't panting.

Priest clicks the token to lock the car before darting after Deacon to catch up with him and Lazarus. He taps at his shades before giving a grim nod of his head "Doctor."

Once she's on solid ground again, Aiden scans the room. Eyes lift and search briefly for entrances, exits, people down, people she knows, people she'd rather avoid. Heh. Quite a list. Anyway! She advances, tearing off the peace bonding from the blade and wielding it like it might actually be able to do something

Lazarus nods to Priest and Deacon as they approach, then points towards the two 'zombies' rather quickly. "Hostiles. Life readings are positive, restrain if possibly, eliminate if necessary." he points out to them before glancing around the room and starting off towards the pair of zombies. "If you have any containment procedures, feel free." he tells them as he simply approaches the fray, not a bit of fear present.

Cynthia watches the Security guard to see if he will be blessed by Joss Wheadon and turn into a strong female protagonist with character and depth..But she also has to keep an eye on the shuffler coming after her. The gun gets pointed at it again as she giggles "In nomine Neil Patrick Harris, et filly, et spiritus sancti." and fires again when it gets close.

Velok's been keeping an eye out while he's been leading the old lady zombie on a tag hunt. His eyes find Lazarus, then Deacon and Priest with him and his gaze lingers perhaps a bit too long. He looks back to the zombies and sees Aiden aggressively landing from downstairs and a squint comes at his eyes. Quickly the arrow is removed and the bow is slung back over his shoulder, returning to his back. He turns and heads directly over towards Major Pain, dropping his voice to a whisper and slipping the arrow within his hoodie, zipping it up. He looks towards Mayhem, reaching out for Pain.

General Mayhem is standing still in the middle of everything that's going on. Her gas mask has been pulled up to reveal her face, which is drawn in concentration. She's singing. "May it be the shadow's call... Will fly aw--*" She stops singing, makes a choking sound. "I'm sorry..." she says in a small voice, then stumbles forwards and begins to collapse.

When Mayhem makes that choking sound, Pain turns to her. Just as Velok is reaching for her (Pain), she (Pain) will guide Mahem into his reaching arm so that the female has a place to land, trusting the man will pick her up. "Go." She says simply.

Stepping rapidly into the convention, taking advantage of areas that were less visible on the way in, Nagi has her hand back behind her head. As she enters the convention-hall, catchning up to Deacon and Lazarus, she un-hangs her five foot long, foot-wide blade with its three foot long handle. The thing is pretty much more a polearm than a sword, despite its style. Led circuitry glows in golden pathways along its lengths as she lays the crux of the crosspiece and handle against her shoulder to suspend it there with one hand while still in mid-stride. "Zombies.... really. And I thought things would not be exciting."

Alisandra's not nearly as stylish in getting onto the scene as either Lazarus /or/ Priest & Deacon. She's lucky to get to the scene at all, since she appears to have had to actually take a /cab/ -- the driver of which presumably demanded payment in advance, since it lights out again like it's fleeing the scene of a crime just as soon as its passenger can get out and slam the door. Rather than follow the others inside, she halts at the entrance to the convention center, unzipping her laptop bag, tucking a headset into her ear, and starting to type rapid-fire as soon as she can find a flat surface to set her laptop on.

That guard who was bleeding out earlier? He blinks, looks around in confusion, then stares at his hand which is no longer spurting dark red gunk-- though a large swath of his upper body is soaked in what he lost before. "Gun. Where's my gun?" He reaches for his walkie-talkie to check in.

Through an opening in the surge of chaos that is the fleeing crowd, three more guards run along one side of a corridor, taking occasional potshots at three more not-shamblers.

Deacon nods curtly to Lazarus and puts his shades on, his hands slipping into his coat to pull out a pair of gleaming handguns in each hand as he approaches the zombie with the doctor- but at a distance, giving himself room to fire as things go wrong. "Following your lead, Dr. Parker."

Priest gives a dip of his head as he listens to Lazarus, his hand slides into his coat and he pulls out a handgun to match Deacon's though not a pair, and he follows after the two

Aiden whips out a badge, approaching the new wave of security guards. "We got this. Federal agents. Take your men and get out. NOW. Anyone injured needs to be contained." That means dude that's taken a licking gets to stay. Force of presence. Sheer charisma.. that intimidating glare.. Jennifer Lawrence is a BEAST

Lazarus simply approaches one of those attacking the guards, before BAM, knocking it straight to the ground with an open fist. "Two of you take the other two, ranged weaponry preferred." he tells the three near him, before apparently preparing to attack yet another one of the shambling dead. With his bare hands.

Cynthia giggles, she still has the gun in hand, she looks down at the guard "Trippy shit. I think someone sprayed the hall with drugs. Just sit there man and relax and try not to have a bad trip. Duuuuuuude." Cynthia is a rather believable individual. She starts to wave then waves with the other non-gore hand that doesn't have a gun in it over at Aiden/Jennifer Lawerence "Hey Aiden! Or Jennifer Lawrence! If it's Aiden, there are zombies and their infectious-ish! If it's Miss Lawrence then you should run away please cause it would realy suck if you got bit though I might be able to save you, also I loved the latest hunger games, can I have your autograph once I'm done?"

Velok takes one more moment to look around towards the new group of people, since associations are important. His arms come out and he easily catches the Mayhem, indeed picking her up. "Don't worry, we'll find out what's wrong." He glances awkwardly towards Pain then turns, leading the little group of three away from the sparkle brigade. "They didn't touch you, right?"

Major Pain is following Velok, watching his back, her voice is very quiet as she says, "No damage done to either myself or the General." Still in character.

The newly arrived guards are in too much of a hurry to question Aiden's pertinents or anything. "All right, Bob, let's get out of--" one of them says. That's as far as he gets, though, because Bob (the one who got his thumb bit off earlier) interrupts him. "Gun." With no more preamble than that, he reaches over, grabs the other guy's gun, and shoots him in the gut with it. Then, eyes clouding over, he drops the gun and charges forward, hands reaching out to claw at the fresh wound.

"Did you say NON-lethal?" responds Nagi? She doesn't really question the order, though. She grounds the tip of her sword and you see a chronometer display on the front of the hilt, likt a spherical eye suddenly advancing. "And her ei wanted to cut loose. Fine... Synchronizing.... " Ther eis a faint red glow behind he rmirrorshades. You just barely see golden pathways o f light trickle through her skin like curcuitboard capillaries.... The chronometer on her sword advances faster and faster. "Standby for Temporal procedure... "

The wonders of science! Tapping into the building security system, and who knows what else besides -- classified military satellites, infrared surveillance cameras, exquisitely sensitive tremor detection, the whole nine yards -- Alisandra rapidly builds up a map of the building and its contents -- living, dead, or undead -- on her laptop screen. Real-time camera footage gives her a second-by-second picture of who's what and where. Now she just has to communicate that information to the rest of her colleagues. Touching a button on her headset, she says, "All agents, this is Wonderland. I'm tracking your locations. Please hold for individual target vectors." Directions to the nearest active zombies and/or directions to the nearest agents? Certainly, sir or madam, at once.

Deacon watches Lazarus smash a zombie with an eerie, general disinterest before his chin dips, turning to the other creatures indicated. His steps are slow, eyes constantly moving over those present until he hears the shot. He turns, arm coming up to line up the shot towards the guard charging at his freshly wounded compatriot. His other sweeping over to line up on another. He seems confident that the glance is all he needs as far as accuracy goes. And then he's squeezing out shots - fast.

Priest calmly looks from Lazarus to Deacon, his own gun coming smoothly up to cover anything that gets past. Unlikely he thinks and he taps at a small button in the side of his shades and begins to scan the crowd, ready to relay any information he gathers to the rest of the agents

Oh, come ON now! Aiden's PISSED. "What the FUCK?" That sword that she has that probably will break the second you do more than look at it? She swings, going for a head choppy thingy doodle. Not across the neck. From the top down. The goal WOULD be to split him in half, but she's pretty fucking sure that she won't be able to do THAT. She's talking to herself the whole time, shouting at various team members. She pauses for just a second, waiting for a report. But you know what? FUCK this. What was that thing Gwydion taught her? Eye contact? That'll do it. Hullo? You in there, little hoomin zombie thingy? SHe'll at least check before she whacks the dude over the head.

Continues to concentrate, her massive pancake flipper of a sword still with its tip grounded before her. She has capilarries of light matching the blade all up and down her cheeks now, like circuit board patterns as well, and the shades do not hide the glow from her eyes behind them. A blue photon is suddenly let off, it looks very much like Cherinkov radiation... check your Geiger Counters! Because this looks a lot like the phenomena of light moving phaster than its phase rate through a dielectric medium... it might be, however, because of exactly what she has done to relativity itself perspectively. It is not a REALLY visible thing, it lasts only a heartbeat... but that glow was there and then it isn't.

Sunglass-shielded eyes fixed on her laptop screen, Alisandra watches the evolution of things inside the convention center on her little map. It's like playing real-time strategy, except with actual people! And actual zombies, for that matter, but fortunately the latter don't seem to be any match for the agents of the Union. If she doesn't see anything that needs to be reported to her colleagues, she stays quiet: no sense in distracting them.

Cynthia blinks at the guard she healed suddenly goes crazy and shoots his buddy "Oooh. Guess that didn't work." she waves at the other people showing up and when Nagi begins lighting up she grins brightly "OOOH pretty!" Yep, not the normal reaction out of people when someone glows like ciructry. But then again she's standing amid multiple corpses, a zombie outbreak and is covered in blood. She casually wanders her blood spattered self over closer to look at Nagi wide eyed with interest because as bullets whiz and commands are shouted and people go John Whoo Nagi's the only one with nifty visual effects. "Hi! I'm Cynthia. Totes an innocent bystander. Who are you? You're very shiny. Are you with all of them? That's a nice sword. Do you know Aiden Lawrence over there? I figure you do since you are taking her orders. Know what's going on?" The speed at which she rattles off her questions and comments is dizzying. Then out comes the cell phone as she poses with the gun, selfies with sword weilding Jennifer Lawrence and the various Jon Woos and focusing Nagi in the background. It's always the right time for a #selfie. Then she's looking around, gun at the ready, seeing if there is any hostiles still up.

Lazarus prepares for another assault, balling his fists up as he preps to fight the 'undead' like a man. Damn, these guys must be on bath salts or something. He pauses as they get gunned down, then glances to the two strays out and about. In a flash, he runs up to one, punching him right in the stomach, before a second hook comes around and catches its temple, sending it down. He then turns, and in BLINDING speed, runs and slams himself into the others upper body, sending it flying. Neither of them are getting back up anytime soon. He then points to Cynthia.

Aiden shouts. "Cyn! Be useful or get the fuck out!"

So that's the old man and woman out of action, rest in peace. And a good thing, too; they were lurching toward the crowd, presumably in search of targets too spooked to fight back much. Deacon also guns down one zombie and does some serious damage to another, before Aiden whacks it with her cheap prop sword and... yeah, it's a cheap prop sword, all right. It breaks right the fuck in half.

Meanwhile, Bob and his erstwhile buddy? They get up. They aim guns at the fleeing crowd. They shoot a couple guys. And they take off running toward the bodies.

And then, suddenly, Nagi simply isn't there in front of Cyn for her camera to CATCH her for a selfie. She moves so fast you can barely see her, leaving a virtual afert-image. One moment she was in front of Cyn, the next moment she shouts, "MEN!" as she brings her massive glowing Zweihandler down in an overhead stroke that separate the head from th ebody of the Zombie Deacon shot multiple times. She skids once, spinning so that she is able to lower her body into a crouch as the light plays over her black leather motorcycle armor. Her vivid purple hair glimmers as she seems to blur from one position to another and strikes in an arc outwards, only shallowly cutting newly Zombified Bob across the chest as she shouts, "DO!!!!!"

Nagi's final stroke reversing as she turns her blade over, she almost as quickly brings the massive sword around and cuts across Bob's chest a second time. Once more and she could do Z for Zoro....

Deacon fires off a series of shots in the direction of the recently turned pair, his face an unmoving mask as his arms seem to independently track each (former) man's movements, his fingers squeezing out rounds as soon as the mechanism loads another into the chamber. There's some room for error, the shots fired from his right pistol blowing open poor Bob's head, another striking the exposed tissue following it. The other shots find their way into the other man's leg, opening large wounds in the tissue, but not killshots.

Aiden recoils, turning her head to try and keep from getting the zombiesludge all over her, then she KICKS the thing away and goes for the gun. That's still on the ground, right?

Lazarus goes about taking down those renegade zed in short order, his shades still in place as he continues to chatter idly into his comms. He then turns, starting to approach the newly shot civilians in a calm, professional manner. He then leans down, peering at them in thought behind his shades before standing and waving over to the others, preparing to assault once more.

Just another day at the edges of the Frontie... oh wait this is dirtside now. Right. This is not supposed to be a normative situation. "Roger that," she says as she flips her wrist over and makes a singular motion that clears all the blood and tissue from her micrometer thick blade with a loud, wet, *Shhhliiiiighpt* sound. It spatters in a half-moon arc behind her as she moves with that time enhanced speed towards the exit to secure it, knocking over a signpost and jamming it through the door handles.

Cynthia sighs and puts the phone away letting out an exhasperated "FIINE. I thought John Woo and Woo Too had it covered but..OOOH!" as Nagi is suddenly gone and flash stepping through the fight. She blinks so as not to lose focus and points down the hall "They came from that way, so likely whatever caused this is that way." then the wounded guards open fire she frowns "And it appears that removing the injury doesn't help at all. Or he hates Joss Weadon. In that case." she calmly steps up closer and shouts "SERENITY WAS RETCONNED! AVENGERS WAS AMAZING! WEADON GRANT ME STRENGTH!" and but then Nagi is there lighsabering people like a digital Jedi and gunshots are flying around then she sighs looking over at Aiden "Damnit Aidin! Hard to help if your people keep being so competent. This is why I work with dumb people. It makes it so much easier to look awesom." But Bob's buddy is still standing. She takes aim and takes the shot.

And Bob's buddy, who /has/ a name but Bob is no longer in any shape to mention it, goes down like a heap of bricks.

For a moment, there is no one lumbering around and trying to take a bite out of their fellow man. No one at all.

Deacon gives a knowing nod to Lazarus and then runs off to one of the exits, slipping one of his pistols in a holster and letting the other one hang at his side, finger off the trigger as he scans around, eyes vigilant to any movement.

Aiden screams "Is it AIRBORN? Everyone hold your breath! On my count! Heads up EVERYONE. ONE... Two.. Three!"

The moment of silence goes on. And on. Routine analysis of those last two gunshot victims at nano-scale (so, not routine) indicates that they are no longer in the process of converting to quasi-stable chaos theory manifestations, but are in fact simply dead. And a good thing, too, because a few other con-goers are starting to wander back over and see if the crazy is done yet.

Aiden shouts, "Keep them out!"

Lazarus sighs, peering at the gunshot victims for a moment before motioning to Deacon lightly. "Could you please call in for a cleanup? I don't think they listen to VEs." he points out as he moves to attempt to contain the peoples, the hallway forgotten for now.

Inhaling again, letting the breath out in a long, slow, drift, Nagi turns and walks with a calm cool efficiency in the direction that Cynthia indicated the zombies originated from. She moves towards the con-goers, covered in blood and gore... with a five foot monomolecular primal energy blade against her shoulder.

Cynthia looks around as people start talking, so she starts breathing again with a gasp. "Any further ones, if you can just capture them, I might be able to save them. I would have offered but when this all started. Velcro was the only one I knew and he doesn't seem on the competent end of things. I didn't know his friends so I couldn't make a judgement on them. But further ones I MIGHT be able to save if this is a poison, disease or bodily imbalance. Just takes time." then she wanders back to looking at Nagi with wide eyes like she expects her to do something AMAZING any moment now and doesn't want to miss it.

Deacon nods to Lazarus before heading over to the crowd, muttering into the collar of his shirt for a while before standing between any curious con-goers and the scene, flashing a badge and staring at them through his mirror shades. "This is an ongoing Federal investigation." His voice says, tonelessly. "Please move along."

"I've got blood samples all the fuck over me!" She tugs off her shirt and turns it inside out, tossing it aside. There. Clean sample! She has on some sort of corset thingy doodle thing. What IS going on?

Lazarus looks over to Deacon, nodding a bit as the man appears to be handling things. He then turns, chatting into his comms for a moment before waving to Aiden. "No signals detected on my end that would make this my jurisdiction, technically under NWO at this point. Are you in need of further assistance?" he asks her, and Deacon really.

Still walking onwards, keeping an eye out as her... eyes flicker a faint glow behind her mirrorshades, Nagi speaks into her radio tranciever, a taped on cheek mic and earpiece similar to a CiA piece. "Nothing to really report... "

Aiden taps her comm. "Homm. Get a cleanup crew in route if they haven't alr---oh. Clear that. Everyone else, make sure the exits are secure. Anyone leave here? I heard something about an assassin."

Lazarus nods over to Aiden lightly. "An intuitionalist with a bow, should be on video recordings. I'll assist with crowd control, then I'm going to get a damned coffee."

Deacon is busy staring down everyone that gets too close, muttering into his collar every once in a while. His gun is a way, and gloved hands fold over eachother on his front. "Everything is under control." He intones to the crowd, "Stay in the building as the investigation closes, nobody is to leave." He allows his voice to carry over the con-goers as they shuffle past him, staring directly at anyone who dares take a step toward him instead of past him, and then moving on each time someone reconsiders.

Cynthia having noted her offer to help to Aiden, she looks around and inhales near the corpses, pooling blood and other mess. She spins around dancing among the bodies inhailing the scent and then stops blinking "Wow, that's odd." she looks over at Aiden being the only person left that was here towards the start "Yeah, people, person, came running through first like ninjas and ran off towards the opposite direction of the zombie thing." she casually toes one of the original corpses "The zombies source is.. Different than usual. OOH. Investigation time I'm on it!" and suddenly goes skipping off to assist Nagi.

Aiden nods, lifting her head to scan the room. She moves over to pick up her discarded shirt, folding it carefully around itself. Her eyebrows SHOOT upward and she says, to herself. "Roger that." It's a quiet murmur and she scans a little harder visually.

Lazarus simply goes about crowd control if nothing else catches his attention, then goes off for a coffee at some point, likely when cleanup arrives.

Aiden lifts her head to scan the room, peering a little more intently toward the back. She scans, scans. Brow lifts. "Roger that." Well, fuck. She meanders toward Noob, wiping her hands on her pants, or maybe the corset. Yes. That's less ... icky. "Good job," she says, STILL looking around the place. "I'd offer you a hand, but.. I'm disgusting. Sorry if I was a bitch."
