Tavia sits quietly on a park bench, situated nicely beneath the shade of a large sycamore tree. She has one earbud in her left ear, the other dangling loosely. She has one leg crossed over the other, and in her lap she has a tablet. She is using a stylis to scroll through whatever is on the display. There are families walking about, joggers, sight seers. It's really a lovely day, though she would need to look up to really notice it.

Heathen walking through the park, a small black cat darting toward his feet and away again, enjoying the day, the sights.... so much nicer in this part of town.

Tavia scrunches up her face, clearly annoyed at whatever she is looking at. In a moment of simple weariness, she pulls her eyes from the screen and lets out a sigh, glancing about at her surroundings. She notices a man in a Kiss T-shirt as he is walking past. She raises an eyebrow, then offers a smile. A thought crosses her mind, so she calls out to him. "Hey... Do you live around here, by chance?" She shuts the screen off on her tablet and leans forward a bit, pulling the earbud out.

Heathen moves toward the lady asking the question. "Not really, but I work around these parts, and got some freinds near. Need directions?" the cat that had been pacing him ducks out of sight when the human stops.

Tavia rubs her face a moment before replying. She seemed a little stressed out. "Sort of. I'm trying to find a good place to rent." She taps the tablet with an idle finger. "Any suggestions for a new-comer?"

Heathen steps a bit closer, hey, what's the worst that she'll do. Wait... he's been sround town long enough to know a couple of answers to that.

Heathen thinks about it a few minutes, takinin mind her style of dress. "price range? Or anythinyou're looking for?"

Tavia smiles lightly at his willingness to help. That was refreshing. She was worried that coming here was going to be like New York all over again. "Price... Well, I don't need something fancy. Just a one bedroom. I live pretty modestly. A safe neighborhood would be a nice perk."

Heathen tries to get a look at her tablet while he's getting close anyway. "Well, I stay at the Macarana, but it's not exactly one ofmhe safe ones. Been thinking about moving to Summit or Falcon."

Tavia scoots over on the bench, giving him ample room to sit should he wish to. Her tablet screen was currently shut off, so he wouldn't see anything on it's display. It's a decent sized tablet, and looks to be new. "Summit or Falcon... I think I saw those. I'll have to look into them more." She makes a mental note, relaxing a bit and leaning back on the bench, one leg still crossed over the other. Her leg bounces slightly to a inner beat.

Heathen sits beside the lady when she makes room. "So new in town? How ya likin' it so far?"

Tavia nods to his first question, then answers the second. "It's beautiful weather here. Much warmer than where I last lived. I just arrived last night and am trying to get myself acclimated." She gazes upwards, between the tall buildings and eyes the blue sky with sparce fluffy white clouds. "How about you, Lived here long?"

Heathen nods. "Long enough to begin acclimating and meeting new people. See the sights. Find some excitement. You don't want to miss the Fat Tuesday parties after Mardi Gras." he points a block over. "Awrsome coffe shop right up there, and the college is feeindly, even if you aren't a student. Helpful people around. A few... not so helpful too though."

Tavia cants her head to the side, her hair falling loosely. "Not so helpful...?" She says, wondering what he could mean by that. Her brown eyes study him a moment. He didn't seem like the type that got into trouble, but looks can be deceiving. She shrugs. "An awesome coffee shop, now we're talking!" she smiles openly at him. "Coffee is a life saver."

Heathen glances down for a moment. The cat slinks away from them. "It is. I tend to stay up all night, and manage to ... usually... keep my head down. But yeah, this is the nice part of town. There are, as with any other town this size, areas where the thugish and self privelidged have sway."

Tavia nods. "Yeah... when people are involved, there is always corruption." She scratches the bridge of her nose, then changes the subject again. "I like your shirt. Are you a fan?"

Heathen tries... fails... to cover a big wide grin at that. Maybe he's about to chase he lady away, as he can't explain it without getting a little crude. "I envy what someone with a tongue like that can do." Heathen but hey, honesty. Sorta.

Tavia laughs. "So you're envious of Gene Simmons." She raises her eyebrows at him. "I guess there are worse people to envy."

Heathen nods. "hey, we all have out heroes." gives her a big grin, she's a good sport. "What about you? NSync fan?"

Tavia sings a popular NSync line "I know that I can't take no more, it ain't no lie... I want to see you out that door, baby bye bye bye". She smirks, then says "I like a lot of different music. I wouldn't say they're my favorite band." Tavia moves her shoulders in a small dance. "Catchy stuff doesn't hurt."

Heathen laughs. "That was supposed to be facitious. But hey, to each his own." Watches the movement of the shoulders. "So you here for work, or just needed a change of pace?"

Tavia takes her tablet and tucks it into a backpack that was under her feet, wrapping up the earbuds and sticking them in as well. "I needed to get away. California seemed like a good place. I am hoping to enroll in one of the local colleges. I was able to keep my old job, but transfered banks." She wonders if that sounded too grandious. "I'm just a bank teller." she clarifies. "Super exciting, I know. How about you? What do you do for a living?"

Heathen thinks about it long enough that it may not be completely accurate. "Mainly delivering medical supplies. Though I volunteer at Tent City, or sometimes around the other side at D, helping out with some of the less fortunate."

"A regular hero." Tavia says, smiling at him. "My name is Tavia, by the way." She extends a hand out for a handshake.

Heathen gives the hand a firm shake. Not particularly agressive, but... he gets an odd look... that's interupted as his cat latches on to his ankle. "I'm Heath." he points down at the fuzzball. "and the furry terror down there is Harvey."

Tavia leans forward enough to peer down at the black cat. "Well, its a pleasure to meet you, Heath. Thanks for the help." She holds a hand down and tries to coax the cat over with a friendly gesture and a low kissy sound, then says "Come here Harvey, come on!" Her tone is light and sweet.

Harvey sniffs at the offered hand, bumping it gently. "Not a problem. I just wander a bit between shifts, so I know the town pretty well."

Tavia brushes the backside of her hand along the cat's fur, nothing done to be taken as anything but a friendly pet. "So you're on break right now?" She asks, a small hint of disappointment evident in her tone. She sits up straight once more, turning toward him and putting an arm on the back of the bench, leaning her head into the hand propped up there.

Heathen follows the movement of her hand, "Nah, just off. a little... insomniac. Circadian rythms out of whack."

Tavia makes an 'ah' expression. "Alright then." She smiles lightly at his comment. "Well, I am glad you walked by."

Heathen gets to his feet, nodding. "Glad to be of assistance. I hope to see you around."

Tavia picks up her backpack and rises to her feet. She smiles up at him as she slings the pack over her shoulder. "I hope so too. You said there was a coffee joint near by. I'm going to go check that out."

Heathen nods. "Prospect Roasters. Freindly people, good crowd, awesome coffee. a little expensive, but worth it."

Tavia gives Heathen a friendly wave and a smile as she heads off in that direction. "Til' next time, heath.",,
