Archery Contest Rules

Range is setup on a long empty field, with ropes setup to keep people or animals from wandering in. There are three sets of targets at first. There is a Close, Medium, and Long Target.

Close - 40 yds - Dexterity + Archery vs 6, or Dexterity + Athletics vs 7
Medium - 60 yds - Dexterity + Archery vs 7, or Dexterity + Athletics vs 8
Long - 80 yds - Dexterity + Archery vs 8, or Dexterity + Athletics vs 9

If there is a tie, then there will be an Extreme target setup.
Extreme - 100 yds - Dexterity + Archery vs 9, or Dexterity + Athletics vs 10

Inits will determine order for group to shoot.
Every target you will shoot 3 times, and we take the best 1 out of the three rolls.

Using Standard Target - Each Target has 5 rings.
White Ring - 1 success to hit - 1 point
Black Ring - 2 successes to hit - 2 points
Blue Ring - 3 successes to hit - 3 points
Red Ring - 4 successes to hit - 4 points
Bull's Eye - +5 successes to hit - 5 points

A miss - 0 success - is 0 points
A botch - String broke - roll Wits + Archery vs 6, or Wits + Crafts vs 7 to fix it
-If you roll +2 successes - continue your turn. Otherwise - out for that target

All Garou must participate/shoot in Homid form. There is no aiming, no gifts, no talens, no fetishes allowed. All bows used are standard mundane ones, supplied by Hunter's Game. Same with the Arrows - standard mundane ones ONLY. (No Patriot Arrows!)

Any merits or specialties must be proven ahead of time to the judge, so as not to slow down the process.

Judge's ruling is final. Dice can be unforgiving, but this is mean to be fun! So enjoy, laugh, and it will be fun RP!

Journey is setting up the food, moving around the tables, and making sure things are properly warm or cold as needed.

Aleksandr is mostly here because Journey prompted him to come. He has no particular skill with a bow. Still, you cannot learn if you do not try, and he is an eternal student. He moves into the Amphitheatre, but not far, taking a seat up on one of the benches and watching and waiting. Not many here yet, he’s early, but he gives a bowed head to both Journey and Johanna and anyone else he sees, remaining silent. Eyes flow eventually to the targets and the rules. The first time he has actually viewed them, so he takes his time to study them. Commit them to memory, like it might be a test.

Johanna is ready, and stands by for the contest to begin. She has all the equipment near her, so everything is kept fair, as she watches over the setup. She waves to Aleksandr as he arrives. It will be a great day just with the banquet Journey has prepared as it is.

Khol comes stepping in from outside, looking about to see who is here.

In the stands Vesta, Stephen, Lisa, and a few of the Lupus Kinfolk are camped out in the area commonly used by Zephyrs Hand Pack, the Lupus Kin sitting around, watching and occasionally nibbling on some food.

Journey finishes the buffet preparations and looks around, waving to Aleksandr, gesturing to the buffet, and moving to Johanna, patting her on the shoulder, "Okay all set." He says, moving to the stands.

Khol smiles a little as he spots Journey and Johanna, he walks over that way "hey .. I wanted to see if you needed a hand with anything.. "

Aleksandr raises a hand very briefly at Johanna’s wave, as if weakly returning it. It’s just an odd gesture to him. A bowed head goes Khol’s way when he enters, the same greeting for anyone, though measured, as always. There’s very little chance Alek is helping himself to the buffet, that’s pretty standard also, though he once again acknowledges Journey’s offer with a dip of his head. Eyes still flowing around the room.

Jake quietly enters with Hunter, assesses those there and smiles. "Oh, this is going to be good." He then heads over to Journey and offers a high five. "Hunter was interested in seeing the contest so I dragged him along."

Johanna smiles as Khol arrives. "I have things good for right now. Once the contest is ready to start, I could use someone to help hand out the equipment. Otherwise, just be sure to find a good seat to watch." She lifts a hand to wave to the others that are arriving as well. She bows her head to Jake, "Defiant Storm'rhya. Glad you could attend."

Hunter looks around as he and Jake enter the area. He takes in a few faces and then pauses near Journey as well. Jake says something his direction and he glances over and nods. Then he moves his attention back to those gathering in and waits to see what is to come.

It has been some time since Aleksandr has seen the Wyrmfoe and Jake gets a very deep bow of his head, but he continues to remain silent, watching. Those entering after, also get the same, as he greets everyone, though that to the same degree as Jake.

In the stands at the Pack area for Zephyrs Hand, Stephen is sitting with Vesta, and some other Kinfolk, Lupus and Human, at the moment scritching a wolfs scruff.

Journey waves to Hunter and Khol, "Yeah, we got tons of food to be eaten here, so.." He gestures, "Get your food, start your day drinking." He laughs lightly, and moves to the stands, heading to his family.

About a dozen women giggling and gossiping enter - all blond haired and green eyed. About 10 men are with them with curly black hair and matching green eyes as they all smile and find somewhere out the way to cheer for the competitors. The Logos Clan has come to cheer people on! Rhea, of course, is at the center, shushing the conversations so people can enjoy themselves without the loud, raucous, and merry kinfolk being such a distraction as to stop things. One of the men is carrying a small simple barbecue pit and another a cooler of steaks, so hey! More food and beer!

Jake smiles at Johanna. "Thank you. Wouldn't miss this for the world. Been looking forward to it all week." He offers a friendly nod of the head to Aleksandr and the new arrivals, gathers up some food then leads Hunter to join Journey and his family in the Zephyr's Hand area of the stands.

Hjalmar comes up to the Amphitheatre in order to cheer for one of his friends. Upon arrival he greets those present, bowing to those of a higher station and of course starting the greetings at the one being the highest in said stations! "Good to see you all again." He then moves to take a seat at Rhea's group. "You got here quicker than I'd expected." He says to Rhea. "The Logos truly are a fast to act family."

Hunter grabs some food with Jake, then heads towards Zephyr's Hand as well. Curiosity has him uncharacteristically quiet for the time being. He offers a polite nod to anyone that might be so inclined to look his way and otherwise settles into to watch the competition.

Aleksandr’s head comes up as the loud crowd comes in. That is a rare sight at the Caern in general, especially so many, and a brow raises when he sees their features are all so similar. He studies each one in turn. It’s like being back at a Silver Fang sept again. Then Rhea quieting them and it all seems to fall into place, even if it’s still a surprise. His gaze sweeps the arena again and stops on Stephen. He has not much charm for children, but Baconcaller someone he has had more contact with. He raises his hand to the boy once, in the same awkward way he did Johanna and then turns back to await the beginning.

In the stands Stephen waves to Jake and Hunter, "Hiiiii." He then to Journey as he approaches and jumps into his daddy's arms. Journey carries Stephen back to the little group in the stands, patting Hunter on the shoulder and moving to sit and settle Stephen down safely as he gets settled in.

Khol grins and does as Journey suggests, and gets himself a drink and a plate of food, before moving over to find a place where he can watch and eat.

Hunter waves back at the youngling, "Hey." he offers to him with a smirk and then nods to Journey as he pats his shoulder. His attention moves all around the area now, just seeing what is going on and how this thing is going to play out.

Jake smiles at Stephen and waves back. "Hey there. You'll be in one of these competitions soon." He really seems pleased to be attending and watches what happens with interest.

Rhea winks to Hjalmar. "Act fast or die fast," she says playfully. "Besides, who isn't quick to join a wonderful event?" Waving to Aleksandr, she smiles. "Joining the tourney, then?" she asks with a warm smile. Seeing Johanna and Khol, though, she squeaks and runs over to give them both hugs! "Johanna! Khol! How've you been?" she asks warmly.

Johanna gives Rhea a hug. "I'm great. Thank you for asking. I'm so glad you and your family could make it today! This is going to be a nice contest."

Aleksandr turns back to Rhea and shrugs a little, he recognizes the woman faintly from his first day here. He rarely forgets a face, especially when they threaten you with chemicals. “Shaderunner-rhya has suggested I should, so I will make an attempt.” He’s very aware of what his skills are though, and he clearly does not think it will be something to behold. He gives a bowed head back to the woman. “It is nice to see you again, Rhea Logos. Especially without the bear spray.”

Journey sits in the stands where Zephyrs Hand claims, with Jake, Vesta, Hunter, Stephen, and several lupus and homid Kin are sitting.

Stephen is right now trying to open his mouth sliiightly wider than his HEAD tackling a turkey leg. Biting into it with a little growl from the two year old.

Khol returns Rhea's hug briefly, and smiles "Hey rhea." he grins and waves to Skully and Tinlin as well when they arrive.

Skully walks along hand-in-hand with Tinlin, keeping his strides managed so as not to make her trot alongside him, obviously telling a story to her while they stroll. "So the entire time I'm holdin' this pig over my head while it's squealin' and oinkin' an' strugglin', an' I'm up to my waist in mud, covered in dirt an' leaves an' twigs, an' only when I get to the edge'a the mud pit does Mama bother to say, 'Y'know, Evan James, I probably could'a gotten that pig out with this here rope I brought'. Not a blink, not a smile; jus' turnt an' walked home, an' the danged pig ran back hisself, too." He rolls his eye, sighing heavily, then smiles and waves to the other folks gathered before looking to Johanna. "Sorry I'm late, Starchaser; lost track'a time. Left my phone at home again."

Sergei descends into the Amphitheater, in Homid form for once (a rare thing for him at the Caern), and looks around a bit slowly.

Johanna smiles to Skully. "You were not the only one, Weathers-the-Storm. I swear I need to chain that thing to you. We will be starting in just a moment, so make your greetings and then be ready to begin. The rules list is posted for everyone to see."

Hjalmar smiles warmly at both Skully and Tinlin, giving a wave and then moving towards the buffet tables in order to get something to eat and drink.

Iris waves at Journey, Vesta, Bacon-Caller and the gang, and as well over towards Skully and Sergei and just whoever else she happens to recognize around here. Meanwhile, she heads towards where Johanna might be lingering so that she can drop off her purse and start unloading her talens and fetishes, give herself a good pat down and the like. Wouldn't do to have a good luck charm or something in her pocket during all this.

The Logos begin to cook, some grabbing the readily available food as thing look like they're starting to get ready. Rhea winks to Aleksandr. "I left it at home. I've great faith I couldn't be safer anywhere else than here," she says with a laugh. "Just remember: victory isn't always possible. We should strive for what we can even in the face of defeat. Good luck, Aleksandr," she says sweetly, giving a chaste kiss on the cheek. Then there's a Skully and a Tinlin and she looks like she's going to run and tackle hug him, but there's a Tinlin attached, and etiquette says no tackle hugging another woman's man. "Pridemore!" she says cordially, nodding to Tinlin politely. "I'm glad you're both here! Want to sit by us?" she asks politely. Seeing things are getting ready, though, she smiles to the lovely couple and moves away.

Hunter doesn't really know many beyond Jake and Journey, so he eats and watches. Each person that passes his view gets a brief glance, nothing more. Just taking in the faces and the people in question.

Tinlin looks way up at Skully as she gives a squeeze to his fingers, "I think that was wild nature trying to teach you a lesson," the Fianna kin smiles. "Nature sayin' one thing, yer mum another, and the pig just a squeelin'a way I imagine." Her red hair today is tied up in a top knot on the top of her head. She smiles brightly and nods to Johanna and then waves over to Hjalmar. "Good ta see you. Where's the best spot to sit and watch the contest? I promised Ildar a good cheer'eeeo." She laughs.

Tim Tams grins widely at Rhea, "Surely we'd love ta sit wit' you. I brought me binoculars fer watchin' them smooth shots."

Jake looks pleased to see the newcomers enter and offers a wave to them before turning to Hunter, Journey and company. "Yeah, this is really going to be fun. We have some great archers here. Can't imagine who's gonna win this."

Walking toward a place to announce things properly to the gathered crowd, Johanna raises a hand to gain some attention, and then speaks in a loud voice for her, "Welcome Sept of the Enduring Spirit and Gaian Friends to the Archery Contest. The rules are posted for everyone to read that wishes. If the competitors can please make their way to the starting line here," she gestures to where there are objects setup as quivers on the ground, spaced apart so everyone as room between them, "we will begin shortly. All fetishes, talens, charms, etc, can be left in the safety of your kin, or the table being guarded by the Rite Mistress." She nods and gestures to Mara. "Your bows and arrows will be handed out once you are in your place. We will then set up an order, and begin."

Hjalmar looks to Tinlin as he grabs a drink to accompany the food he already put on a plate and smiles. "At the..." And then Rhea's already on it. "And that is where I was intending to take a seat as well." He grins and heads over to the Logos family again.

Iris unloading her stuff is a little bit like Mad Max unloading his guns at Barter Town. But she gets herself divested of all that jazz, as well as her shoes, and pads out over towards the indicated starting line. On the way, she trips over nothing at all and nearly falls on her face! Yep, the moon-bound Theurge is gonna do super today.

“Probably for the best.” Aleksandr notes to the Rhea about the bear spray, nodding slightly. “Though I am certain you are right about your safety here.” Another nod then though to her tidbit of wisdom he recognizes. “Yes, victory is not always the point. There is much wisdom in failing, but thank you.” And then she’s attempting to kiss him on the cheek and Alek is as fast as a cobra. He leans back, so she can’t quite connect. It’s fairly obvious it’s not personal, he just doesn’t like being touched much. He’s weird that way. She moves off and he turns his attention back to the contest, especially as Johanna speaks, giving her his full attention now, falling silent.

Sergei turns to pay attention to Johanna when she starts to speak and heads over to the Ritemistress to hand over his gear, a dagger, a few talens, and a little piece of round metal on a cord. Then he turns to wait for his next instructions.

Skully shrugs and laughs a little at Johanna's teasing and pats her shoulder, giving Hjalmar a friendly nod and grin while squeezing Tinlin's hand. Iris is greeted with a wave, Sergei with a clap on the shoulder, Rhea with a peck on the cheek and a big smile, but Skully leads Tinlin over to Journey and Jake, smiling at them and their gathered pack before clearing his throat. "Umm, Shaderunner-rhya, I know you've met her, but Defiant Storm-rhya, umm... may I introduce Miz Tinlin O'Malley, my girlfriend?" He's awfully bashful, but proud, giving the young woman an encouraging smile. "She's here to cheer me on, even though I said as I only entered on account someone oughta be okay with losin'. Always been a terrible shot with a bow."

Ildar would show up at the contest, excited along with the other contenders to be ready for this. He's spent a long time working on his skill and is looking forward to showing that off. Stepping up to the line as directed, Ildar receives the bow and arrows provided. A nod of thanks is given as he'd put on that wrist guard, check the draw of the bow to nod to himself, then prepares himself for that contest, studying the targets and for the moment, ignoring what the others may be doing.

Journey leans forward, pointing Stephen to the going on down there and prompts the boy to look, wide eyed, and continue eating. Taking in the opening of the contest, he looks to Skully and Tinlin, nodding and gesturing, "Good luck." He says, offering Tinlin a spot to sit.

The brush rustles and a white wolf pokes her head out of the bushes. Her ears perk up alertly as she takes in the sights and sounds of the day, before padding over to join those who are lining up to partake of the contest. She wags her tail in a low, friendly, happy way to any she recognizes, but doesn't bother speaking a greeting to anyone. Why talk when your body language already says it all? Eventually, it is time to actually start the contest, so she changes into a blonde-haired teenager.

It's then that Wazi stands upright on two legs, taking a moment to pull her hoodie off over her head and drop it carelessly into the dirt, revealing the green teeshirt underneath and a winding array of red and white, bloodstained bandage tattoos covering her arms and neck, wrapping out of sight underneath the shirt.

She accepts a bow when it is offered, and then fiddles with it and her arrows, grinning quietly to herself as she examines each in turn. Finally, she is done, and she turns to watch the other competitors, waiting for her turn.

Iris takes a bow when one's delivered to her, and stabs her Archery Contest Approved arrows into the ground beside her once they're given to her as well. She too has a look at her bow, checkin out its make and quality, and sniffing it as well. There could be important things to learn from its smell, you don't know!

Jake smiles at Skully and stands to offer his hand to Tinlin to shake. "It's nice to see you again. We met at the Kinhouse after that nasty Bane attack. So good to have you here. We'll all have to have dinner sometime soon so we can visit. Enjoy the show." He sits back down and waits for the festivities to begin.

The Logos will sit quietly, watching as they prepare for the competition. Rhea grins widely at Skully's kiss as the clan makes ample room for the behemoth and his belle, but then he's planning to compete! What a tweest! The watch and Rhea makes sure only the barbecue is making any noise near them as steaks are flipped and prepped.

Sergei approaches the firing line for the contest and accepts his gear, taking a moment to go over it all in a manner very similar to Iris. He did learn from her after all.

Kohana moves up to the front of the line as he turns to glance around. Why not give it a whirl for himself? He nods to any that look his way and then he settles in and readies himself for his turn.

Tinlin spurts out a burbled laugh as she's introduced to Jake and then she smiles to Journey, and the little boy with him. "Aye, he's so modest!" Her eyes are bright green with flecks of gold as she curtsies before Jake. "The name as he said, Tiana'lin is me name among the Midlothien. Fianna kin, and pleased as ever ta meetcha." Her smile broads as Journey offers her a spot to sit. "Okay, now ta cheer everyone on. Even if ye be losing, Evan James, I'll still be over here clapping like I believe in you'know'whatzits!"

Khol seems to be content eating quietly and watching the event as it happens. His focus quickly going to the contestants themselves.

Hjalmar sits with the Logos family and watches the contestants take their bows and arrows. He eats and drinks some whilst keeping observant. A big smile showing at his friends getting ready for the contest. "Good luck Ildar." He says quietly. It was for him, that he promised to cheer.

Settling in his seat a little, Hunter crosses his arms and absently runs his right index finger over the inside of his left elbow. What food that is left is forgotten for the time being as the contest is about to get underway. He glances over those gathered around him once more, then looks over to those preparing to shoot.

Aleksandr stands from his seat on the benches, setting his backpack down there and moves towards the bow and arrows. He’s only competing at Journey’s prompting. He takes a bow from the pile examines, and then chooses another, as if he has some idea what to look for. Maybe he does. He finally chooses one and a quiver of arrows and finds a spot to stand facing a target. He pulls out an arrow and gets a feel for it, playing it against the string of the bow a couple times, then raising the bow a few times to practice without the arrow. His technique looks good, at any rate, but that could be a illusion. Someone who has trained over and over how to hold a bow, at any rate.

Skully lets Tinlin join Zephyr's Hand, giving her a peck on the lips and taking a deep breath as he strides over and selects his bow, lining up near Sergei and stating, "I practiced some the last couple'a days, but... I'm pretty sure as this ain't gonna be an impressive showin'."

Tinlin is kissed and smiles widely. She claps her hands as Skully picks up his bow. "If not the target, aim for the moon!" Her voice comments to Journey. "He's bound ta hit somethin'." She's just happy to be here, and leans a bit in Jake's direction. "I do remember you after that bane attack. It was a rough night, and after that shadow spider went chompin' at my hair, I lost a good length that night." She eases in her seat now. "But enough of that. Eventually we 'ave ta decide who is making what fer dinner, soon, aye?"

Sergei considers Skully words as they both prepare and then he comments "It will give you something to improve upon for the next trial. To do better than you did the time before is still a measure of victory, even if you did not place well amongst the competitors."

"S'kind'a what I was thinkin'," Skully replies to Sergei with a nod, giving him a smile. "Plus I knew Mama would've approved. She was always a great shot; figure as I'll try to make her proud, even if she's only proud'a my tryin'." He shrugs, obviously not concerned, tests his bowstring carefully.

Taking the first three arrows, Ildar would hold them all in one hand. It's a style of loading that is smoother and faster for making those shots and making them count. Just as he's practiced so often before, the arrow is notched, drawn, setting to that anchor point, Ildar doesn't even have to pause on that release. The first arrow slamming home into just shy of center point of bulls eye. Even while that first shot hits, the second is already notched, aimed and released, coming in just above it with another hit to that center. The final shot was a bit higher, catching that blue ring, instead of the center like the first two. Ildar studies the results, nods and then prepares for the next set of shots.

Aleksandr does seem to have good technique with the bow, someone who meticulously studied and held a bow over and again. But practice like that does not always translate. In this case, it does, maybe more to the Theurge’s surprise than anyone else. He holds the bow steady and looses the first arrow after aiming carefully. There is no hurry to any of his shots. No rapid firing. A breath in, and then one released as he fires. Red. A second is carefully aimed, yellow, and a third, red again. His lips thin just a little at his performance as he assesses it, not a terrible cluster. He lowers the bow and stops, turning his attention to the rest curiously. Studying each in turn for technique and skill, and results.

Well, sometimes you just don't know your own strength. So when Kohana pulls back on the bow string and it snaps he flinches and swears under his breath. It's just worse when he fumbles with it the entire time.

Sergei waits his turn patiently, he's seeming rather zen about the whole thing really. When he draws and fires the first arrow he was apparently not focused properly because it barely lands in the right edge of the white ring, the second more than makes up for it and lands dead center on the bulls-eye, the third arrow goes wide the other direction and hits the left edge of the white ring. Sergei frowns disapprovingly at the target.

Iris watches the archers before her take their shots, being quiet during aiming and then joining in with WOOO!'s when shots are fired, along with a bigger cheer for some bull's eyes that happen. When it ends up being her turn, she raises her bow, nocks her arrow, draws... And then TWANG! Her string breaks and slaps her right in the face. "MOTHER OF HELL!" she blurts while grabbing her cheek and doing the ow ow ow dance. No frenzying though. She gets herself a new string from someone though, and applies that to the bow, passing off the broken one. Okay, now to try that again! She lifts the bow, takes aim, fires once and does pretty well! Her first (successful) arrow lodges firmly into the red ring, and her next manages an inch or so over, tagging that bull's eye. Hooray for not sucking completely!

Skully rolls his shoulders and nocks his first arrow, using an odd grip that seems awkward until one takes his size into account. "No nitpickin', Mama," he murmurs to himself, loosing and then nocking again, loosing and nocking, and loosing a final time. He hits the lower black ring, then the lower red, and finally the upper blue ring, grinning happily and commenting to no one in particular, "Well, that ain't half bad."

When her turn comes up, Wazi steps to the appointed position and exhales a heavy sigh, relaxing her shoulders and letting the tension flow from her body. She sags in place a moment, eyes closing, before she takes a very deep breath. She straightens again, eyes opening, and then scoops up an arrow. She pulls, takes aim, and releases both arrow and breath together. Bullseye!

She grins at that, shifting her weight a little, before reaching down to scoop up another arrow. She repeats the steps with a semi-practiced air, not the stance of a well trained archer, but a confident one never-the-less. The second arrow sinks just shy of the bullseye, into the red ring on the nearest target.

Wazi tilts her head a little to one side, eyeing that result. Then she licks her lips, shrugs, and pulls another arrow. She takes position, aims, looses, and sinks another arrow into the bullseye. "Ha!" she exults, turning away with a wide grin, "Is too close!"

Hunter watches each shooter. His eyes moving over the weapon and then the archer. He studies each stance, watches each draw. A wince touches his face with the string breaks and strikes Iris' face. Absently his right cheek twitches for whatever reason. Each shooter gets his undivided attention, every movement studied and scrutinized.

Stephen watches from the stands, turns to Journey and whispers, "Zing, Daddy." He points to the Archers, and Journey nods, watching as the archers go through their firing.

The Logos cheer excitedly for Ildar and gasp as Kohana's bow breaks. The cheer and applaud him anyway, mostly rooting to help keep everyone's spirits up! Yay roos! It's clear, though, they're *really* rooting for Ildar even if they're applauding and cheering the others in good sport.

Tinlin smiles over at Stephen and chuckles at Journey. "Totes," she whispers from her seat. The arrows go flying she's also watching the fletched arrows go zing! She holds her breath when Skully shoots and then she smiles wide.

Hjalmar smiles at seeing Ildar and the other shoot their arrows. A silent -owh- at the breaking of that string hitting Iris in the face. And a understanding look given to Kohana as the mad has issues repairing his bow. He cheers for all shooters. Only just a little louder for Ildar as the lad shoots. He hopes that the next few shots of the young man will go better for him.

Khol grins and cheers for each of the shooters, especially Skully. but he mostly just watches and munches on the provided food right now.

Jake leans over and whispers a few things to Hunter while the competition goes on. He doesn't seem to be rooting for anyone in particular. Or if he is it's not apparent. Every contestant gets the same amount of applause. It's a nail biter though. Anything can happen!

Hunter nods to things that Jake mutters and continues to watch how things unfold. His face twitches and his eyes move over the stances again, watching the steadiness of the hands drawing the arrows.

Ildar takes the next three arrows, eyeing that distance with a small nod. Much as that first time, he'd set himself, notch and draw. The first shot barely catches that outer ring, Ildar's hesitation at seeing that had him aim a bit too low, the second arrow biting the dirt before the target, rather than hitting at all. He actually pauses, taking a breath instead of getting frustrated and resettles himself. Calmed, Ildar notches that third arrow and focuses, actually taking time to aim down the shaft before releasing, planting it dead center of the blue ring on the right side.

As the difficulty is turned up and the targets get farther away, that where simple study fails and skill and practice come into play. Clearly, Aleksandr has only done the first with a bow. His technique is good, but he lacks any true skill or practice with a bow. Again, he is slow and deliberate though. Aiming far longer than most, and losing his first. Barely hitting the outer white with his first, he seems unfazed. He simply nocks another, and goes through the same, slow process. This time, hitting the red close to the bullseye. Everyone eggs lucky sometimes. The last is fired into the black ring, well away from anything of value. Still, no disappointment shows, no real emotion is given at all. His arrow placement is studied briefly, and once more he turns to the others to watch, quietly.

His bow is repaired by the unprepared and untrained Kohana. As a result it's not the best but the Wendigo manages to get his bow sufficient for three shots. All three of them land in the same outer ring. Thud Thud Thud. "Ok..."

Sergei watches as the targets move further away and takes a deep breath before firing and nails the first shot dead center, the second goes a little high and lands in the blue ring. The last shot he over corrects low and his arrow impacts the ground at the base of his target. Missing entirely.

Round two. FIGHT! Iris does a bit better this time, she actually gets to fire her first arrow at any rate, and it slams in to the red line just next to the bull's eye at the more distant target. "Woo!" Lining up her next shot though, she aims, looses, and the arrow lodges itself just about dead center on the bull's eye. "WOO!" Ah, but now she's getting all happy with herself, and that just won't do. As she draws her third arrow, the friggin string breaks again! "AHWHATCOMEON!" She manages not to almost take her eye out this time, but *still*, what the shit? A colorful piece of living string exits her pants, floats up, and attempts to act as bow string, resulting in Iris having a fight with her bow over the whole ordeal, attempting to peel the string off the bow and put the right one on. She ends up taking the Color String familiar over to Johanna in an attempt to foist the scatter brained spirit off on her. "I didn't know it was in my pants, I swear.

Skully readies himself for the second round, and looses an arrow that falls short when his string slips its knot. He rolls his eye and ties a quick replacement, and his second arrow strikes true, with the third just hitting the edge of the target and sticking.

This time, Wazi moves up to the starting position for the medium-range target. She is already grinning as she steps to the line and glances just once, briefly, over the assembled audience and other participants. She bounces on the balls of her feet in a bout of excitement, then turns to focus on the task at hand. One arrow drawn, aimed, loosed - another bullseye!

Wazi chuckles at that result, before she reaches to nock another arrow. This time, she straightens up, pulling the bowstring back, and it snaps! The Ahroun grunts in surprise at that, looking at the bow-turned-stick in her hands, then she wrinkles her nose. She sets the arrow back into place, then settles down onto her heels, sitting for a moment as she works with clumsy hands and fingers to remove the string from the bow. Then, she takes the new string she is given and works to pull the bow into the correct position to set the string. But she pulls a little too hard in her hurry and CRACK, the bow bends past the breaking point, splintering along its middle and smacking her directly in the nose, hard enough to break the bone in a spurt of blood.

Wazi springs back onto her feet with a nearly inhuman snarl, turning and spiking the broken weapon against the ground in a fit, "Damn it!" Wow, the lupus does know swear words! Who's been teaching her?

After this explosion of rare temper, Wazi pauses, blinking at the bow on the ground, then turning to the assembled Garou and kinfolk. She grimaces, shoulders sinking in on themselves, stance hunching into a chagrined, shamed posture. She brings one hand up to touch at her already-healed nose, rubbing it a moment, then stoops to pick the bow back up. "I am sorry. Is not proper to do this thing." Then, she quietly makes her way out of the line and to one of the contest helpers to return the broken bow and accept her chastisement.

A cheer from the Logos, fighting to encourage Ildar as he fires, hoping to raise his spirits. Iris does amazingly! So amazing the bow explodes, and the Logos give a sympathetic 'Aw,' for that, though they do roar in excitement at the bull's eye! Skully's right behind his own and the Logos start chanting his name. "Pridemore! Pridemore! Pridemore!" but quickly hush to allow him and the others to focus.

Stephen looks around and starts bouncing with the chanting, clapping in time with the chanting, cheering along. Journey smiles, and watches the round, taking in the shots.

Khol finishes his plate and places the plate away in the designated receptacle. then settles back with just his drink now, to watch and cheer everyone.

A frown creases Hunter's brow as the range gets wider. He nods at something and continues to study the shooters with more than a casual eye for the detail in question.

Outside of what Ildar has been practicing at, for range, he eyes the distance a moment. Finally, a small nod is given as he takes up those arrows and sets himself. Draw, aim, breath and release, then fires, the first shot is low and to the left on the target. Ildar's pattern is slower as he'd draw the next one to set and fire, only to have it bite the dirt low again. Shaking his head a little, Ildar notches that final arrow, tagging the target on the other side, but still low, only registering those two points.

A glance goes Wazi’s way when she has a tantrum, the first thing to really draw his attention and he shakes his head a little at the Ahroun, though she probably doesn’t notice, considering. It’s only a moment, and his turn is again as the longer rage targets are brought up. The long range is simply too much for Alek’s ‘skill’. If it can be called that. Again, his breathing slows and he concentrates, and then looses his first after what seems like even more time in silence. It doesn’t help. The arrow misses completely. He is undeterred, or maybe uncaring. Another show is taken in the same manner, and he manages to hit the outer edge, if barely. Finally, a third is fired, and the black outer circle is the best he can manage. He studies the target for the briefest of moments before the bow falls to his side and he waits, observing again.

Sergei frowns, not really used to attacking from this far away, his usual strategy is to start running closer. He takes his shot and the first hits the blue ring and he tries to correct and it hits wide the other side on the black ring. Correcting again leaves him snarling in disappointment as it hits the white ring on the high side.

Thud Thud Thud. The three arrows hit the target once again. Kohana isn't much if an archer it would seem, but he is getting at least a little better. "Well at I only partially embarrassed myself." he jokes lightly.

Iris gasps and looks like she'd like to go offer poor Wazi some aid, no one likes getting punched in the face by a stick. But no, she leaves that to anyone else and stays at her spot. Not like there's not an ass ton of Garou here with Mother's Touch, or even the lady's own regeneration, right? When it's her turn to shoot, somehow, by sheer force of chance or whatever, Iris does NOT break her stupid bow string this round! Hooray! Nor is she 'helped' by her 'super helpful' familiar. Instead, she manages to fire three whole god damned arrows in a row, hitting the long range target each time. Only one of them hits the bull's eye, but still, the other two whacking blue and red lines aren't anything to sneeze at. If her bad guys are standing still and brightly painted in the future? They are *so* fucked.

Skully takes a deep breath, drawing level, and jokes, "With one eye closed!" before loosing at the target. THUNK for three points, then an arrow which dings off the edge of the target, and another THUNK when his last arrow lands next to the first. "Now that was a lot better'n I's expectin'," he admits, looking aside at the various pleased, displeased, and... other reactions.

Lucky Wazi! Despite her outburst over the bow having the nerve to pop her a good one in the face, she gets to continue in the competition. She is no longer showing grinning exuberance as she steps up to the starting line for the far target, squinting slightly and leaning forward a little as she looks out at the far away target. A hesitation, before she straightens up and nocks an arrow in her replacement bow, carefully and quietly lining up a shot. She pulls, exhales, and releases to score a perfect Bullseye!

She takes two more shots, each in silent concentration. Another bullseye, first, and then 'merely' striking in the Red Ring just outside the bullseye. The lupus grins again at those results, before she turns and stalks over to await the contest results.

Johanna steps out as judge, and walks up to each competitor, thanking each in turn for their participation. She turns to the gathered crowd and says, "Thank you to each of your for participating in the Archery Contest. Thank you to all who have come to watch and cheer them on. Results are that we have a tie for First place between Mercy's Messenger and Puddle Jumper. Everyone else may move back and watch from the crowd. After this last round, I will announce the final results. Thank you." She will move back out of the way, and a new set of equipment will provided to both Wazi and Iris.

Skully replaces his bow and pats Sergei on the shoulder, sharing good cheer and sportsmanship with his fellow also-rans and shaking hands with Kohana and then Ildar as he makes his way around and shares quiet jokes and compliments with his fellow competitors as the last target is placed. He lopes his way on up and moves to sit next to Tinlin, putting a big arm around her and commenting, "Wasn't so bad. Mama's be happy with that, I think."

Aleksandr bows his head to Johanna and puts his bow back, then does the same to the rest of those gathered. He moves back to his seat quietly, taking up his backpack again. His interest returning to the contest curiously.

Sergei nods at Skully as the turn in their gear "It is not my favorite of the warlike arts. I do not feel either of us have cause for shame."

Tinlin leans into Skully's arm as he sits down beside her. "Right as rain," she smiles over. "You did great. And nothing went too high nor too low." She seems proud of the Wendigo beside her and smiles warmly. "Now we see who really wins the contest, aye?"

Wow, a tie-breaker round to decide the contest's winner, and Wazi was good enough to be in it! The lupus is grinning eagerly as she moves into position, her earlier solemnity forgotten again as she bounces in place, glancing over the assembled crowd. Then she looks back to the target, lines up her shot, and pulls too hard once more. Another snapped bowstring!

Wazi groans at that, grimacing and dropping back into her squatting seat. This time she stares intently down at the bow as she works more slowly and carefully, gently easing the old string away and replacing it with the new. She doesn't have the same difficulties as before, and heaves a sigh as she finishes restringing the bow. "Good bow," she informs it, allowing herself another brief grin.

Then, she rises back to her feet, spends a few moments lining up her shot, and looses the arrow. It isn't a bullseye this time, which makes sense considering how far away the target really is... But she does strike within the red ring!

Wazi's grin widens at that, and she eagerly scoops up another arrow, nocks it, lines up the bow, and then pulls very far back on the string, angling it to try to compensate for the very, very long shot... And at the last moment, just as she releases the arrow, the string snaps from the strain again and the arrow flies only a handful of paces through the air, falling harmlessly into the grass.

This time, Wazi laughs, turning and stepping away from the firing position, "I am too strong!"

Iris looks about as confused as Wazi is excited. Like, seriously, how is she making a tie breaker shot instead of lying in the medic's tent with a... a broken foot or something totally unlikely at an archery contest yet totally expected what with it being Iris? Clearly this is all some sort of mistake and Johanna will figure that out later, but still, Iris isn't going to give up a chance to shoot something just because she probably shouldn't be shooting it! She heads up after Wazi and gives the lupus a grin, offering a high five and what not as well, and then takes her position. She plucks up an arrow, nocks and draws, aims for a moment, then looses it. The shaft zooms through the air and thunks its arrow head into the red dot in the middle, near the edge but still in the bull's eye range. Still pretty sure her shooting is a mistake, she lacks the WOO I'M A WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! touchdown dance or anything, but she is proud of herself none the less. "That was pretty close!" she says, and looks to everyone else that was competing, "You guys didn't tell me you're so good at this!"

Checking over the last two arrows carefully, Johanna returns to the gathered crowd to announce the results. "Wow, it could not be any closer than that! First, congratulations to Howling-Wind'rhya for placing third tonight. Thank you to Honor's Keeper, Lights-the-Darkness, Stormbreaker, and Weathers-the-Storm for participating! Going into the tie breaker round, and separated only by ONE single point, Puddle Jumper has placed second tonight, meaning that Mercy's Messenger'rhya is the winner of the Archery Contest tonight!" She claps for them all enthusiastically! "Shaderunner'rhya has your prizes, please see him to receive them." And with that, the judge's job is done and she can go enjoy the rest of the evening while some assistants clean up the range and gets the equipment ready to be returned to Hunter's Game.

The results have been announced and, Waziyata isn't the winner? She blinks, looking up from where she has been playing with her hands in the grass. Then she laughs, springing to her feet and dropping a shower of glass blades in her wake as she bounds forward, hands slipping into her hoodie's pockets.

She goes directly to Johanna and the winner of the contest, grinning widely as she draws near. She shifts from foot to foot, bouncing with excitement in the glory of the moment before saying, "Is good day! Good contest! Good archering! Thank you!"

Khol smiles and calls out "Good job Skully.. " then he claps for each of the announcements, Celebrating in a good natured way.

Hunter nods as the rounds progress. A look of admiration at the long range shooting. Easier said than done. As the contest winds down and the final winners are announced he smiles a bit, just enjoying the skill and tenacity of the entire contest.

Skully gives Khol a wave and a grin at the cheers, taking his praise and just glad he didn't look ridiculous out there. "Looks like we jus' did, lamb," he murmurs with a grin and a squeeze to Tinlin's shoulders as Iris nails a bullseye at the advanced distance like Katniss Hood. "Hoka-hey!" he cheers when she wins, cheering her on happily.

Aleksandr watches the final arrows fly, and he can’t be said to be disappointed by the results. Just taking these things as they go. He rises though, with the announcement, but doesn’t move to exit right away. Instead, he moves down to the bottom again, towards Wazi, leaning to say something quietly to the Ahroun. Once done, he straightens once more and bows his head in an all-encompassing way to the room and starts out. “Luna guide you.” He has duties to perform. Ever busy. Or maybe he just needs to practice with a bow.

Iris' Familiar bursts out of wherever Johanna might have stuck the thing, and hurls itself directly into the Fury's face while Iris is still working out this whole 'I won' thing. "AHH!" One hand flails at her face to try and clear color string off it, and blindly attempts to hand her bow to someone.

The Logos are cheering and hugging Ildar and Skully as though they had won everything. Chattering in Greek, the Clans seem to be more eager in keeping spirits high as they begin to pass unawoken beer and freshly grilled steaks around in celebration. "Skully you did fantastic!" Rhea cheers, making sure, of course, that Tinlin's not separated from her new beau. She walks over to hug Hjalmar and smile. "It was a great competition. Thank you for coming to watch."

Sergei moves over to get Iris's bow while she's under attack by her affectionate familiar. At least he assumes its affection, it might be trying to kill her.

Stephen claps his hands and watches as the contest continues As the winners are announced, Journey rises and moves, Stephen watching him go and turning, looking at Hunter and offering him a piece of Sushi.

Sergei pulls up a bit short, realizing he heard his name as being in third place. He nods in satisfaction and then to Johanna "It was a good contest. Thank you for organizing it."

Jake stands and applauds as well, looking quite pleased. "Yes, a great competition indeed. Everyone should be quite proud." He smiles at his group. "I need to get home and tell Giselle all about it. See you soon." He gives Johanna a thumbs up as he heads out.

Hunter nods and since Jake's heading out he decides to take the same exit. He offers a nod to Journey and his youngling, then makes his way out as well. Talkative cuss isn't he?

Journey comes down producing three quivers and one bow from a bag, and moves in as the contest starts breaking up and people settle in to eating and whatnot. Rather than a large ceremony, he catches Iris, passing her a quiver and the bow, "Well done Iris, I look forward to seeing you doing a lot of good with these."

Wazi is caught up with and given a Quiver, "Excellent shooting, Puddle Jumper, well won."

Sergei is found and the quiver presented, "Congratulations, and a fine showing. Wield the power well."

Kohana waves to everyone as he begins to slip out. "Nice job everyone..." the Wendigo Ahroun mentions, "I should get home to the kiddos but it was nice to get out..."

Iris flails around on the ground for a moment, and once Sergei's gotten the bow from her she's able to use both hands to try and stop her spirit pal hugging her to death. It takes some work, getting it peeled off her and then sucking in a huge breath of air. "You're gonna *murder* me one of these days, you know that?" she tells the wad of living string before getting up to her feet. "I'm still PRETTY sure we might need a recount," Iris says, still not real sure how the hell she managed to win this, "But thank you! Of course, having shot so well today, I don't think I have any good shots left for the rest of the year." Before other contestants get away, she attempts to get some handshakes in. "What's in here, anyhow?" she asks, starting to pick through the cool arrows, and eyeing the bow.

Sergei takes the quiver and bows respectfully "Thank you Elder." and shakes Iris' hand when she approaches him before also taking a moment to examine the prize.

Khol rises and, unless asked not to, he will begin helping to clean up.

Journey grins as the winners examine their prizes, and nods, "Well done. Hopefully these will assist you, and perhaps in the future, more contests will happen." He smiles, looking around, seeming quite pleased at the way things happened, and the turnout for the event, grinning and moving toward Johanna.

"Oh wow, this is so awesome, thank you so much!" Iris tells Journey while looking over the winnings, and like it wasn't weird at all, attempts to give the elder a hug. With him heading towards Johanna, Iris moves to go show Sergei the spiffy bow fetish, "Lookit!"

Sergei nods and shows Iris the quiver and arrows he got and looks over her bow, seeming rather impressed "That's very nice."

Johanna smiles as she is so happy to see it went well and the winners are happy. Looking over the crowd, she is glad to see so many came out for the event. She sees Journey walking toward her, and she stops and waits to see what he has to say.

After a lean to peek at Sergei's quiver contents, she grins at the fellow and says, "We need to go vampire hunting." with a sagely nod of her head. She looks back over towards Journey and Johanna, and when there seems like an appropriate spot to semi-interrupt, she says, "This was really fun, you guys, thanks for putting the whole thing on!"

Sergei nods back at Iris and considers "That's an excellent plan, I'll have some of the scouting patrols keep an eye out for an opportunity."

Journey nods as he approaches Johanna, looking around, "Excellent work, Johanna, this went excellently. Congratulations." He looks to Iris as she calls over thanks and he grins, waving, then gesturing to the buffet, "Eat, drink, Be Merry or something. Have fun." He gestures, smiling as he nods, looking around more.

Johanna bows her head to Journey, "Thank you for entrusting this event into my hands, Shaderunner'rhya. I shall eat for two and enjoy it greatly." She looks for her mate first, before heading to eat much food!

"That's a great idea!" Iris says for 'eat drink and be merry', because yes, yes it *is* a good idea. Shoulder checking Sergei to get him to go with her, she starts to wander towards food stuffs. "Shit, now I'm having a decision crisis."

Sergei wanders over with Iris, continuing in step on reflex as he shares his tactical approach to feasting "Easy answer. Some of everything. If the plate won't hold it all, plan out stages."

Journey grins and moves up to the stands, returning to his family, letting people descend on the food and rejoining Stephen to talk AAAAALLLLLLLLLL about it
