House of Keys - Library

As Lilian comes up the stairs to the secret basement, Marshall is seated at one of the tables in the library trying to sort out the files from the newly found box. As the door swings open a little he looks up quickly and relaxes once he sees that it's a friendly face. "Oh...hello." He smiles politely and has what looks to be a semi-damp cloth removing dust from the pages.

Lilian smiles and nods to him, "Evening Marshall, strange thing down there, you um use the owl's eyes to get down there, looks like a gate of some sort, eats quint like so many things here, but cannot seem to old it, got a rough sketch, and it has faint spirit residue." as she moves to take a seat and do a strange note of old kingdom hieroglyphs for well she folds the paper and marks it for Merek, from allot of the office supplies she brought in with containments to scatter about the library earlier today. "So anything interesting in the old files?"

Marshall nods and seems to have a flush of regret wash over his face as he hears that Lilian had a brush with the gate. "Yes, sorry - should have spread the word around a bit better. We're not -quite- sure what it is or was but we know that's hungry." He is moving through the dossiers now and seems to have finished cleaning up the files regarding the construction of the building.

"Nothing really interesting. I could probably tell you how many men worked on the project - and how many bags of cement they went through..."

Lilian says, "It is not holding the charge, when you check it out with prime as it takes it. There is allot of questions coming to mind on the place, and well building is allot of work and sort of wonder about the old members here?" as he moves to those."

Marshall nods, "Oh...I can see that it took -a lot- to get this place built but there's nothing here about -why- they did it. It seemed like the whole thing of its origin was removed other than the mundane records that wouldn't really tell anyone anything." He pushes over a dossier to the woman and within it she would find a small, old photograph paper-clipped to the folder and a few pages detailing the person's background, academic interests, family of origin, finances, etc.

"They weren't just looking for your typical blue bloods back then - they were looking for people that were -very- specifically placed within society. They had a goal in mind."

Lilian hmms, "That is allot of work and research on the people, though more like an information network then a chantry?" looking to him, "Then again when they left the traditions it was over the lack of aid with the TEchnocracy. Got to wonder what the real work and training was for here by them." as she checks out the dossiers with him.

There are nine folders that are clustered together for that first class. Everyone of them was male but that's not too surprising for the time period. They were all between twenty and twenty-one years old and were from some influential families in the country. "I think...but can't be certain, that this was started as just an academic secret society. It's mostly about sharing information, connections, finance, brotherhood - like most modern fraternies." He lets out a brief sigh as a memory crawls up from his mind to distract him a bit.

"But I did find...ahh, here." He pulls out another folder and slides it to Lilian, "...that they went co-ed in the early forties. "Elizabeth Longstreet - of New York City was the first woman I can find initiated into the Order."

Lilian blinks and looks at that one taking her time to go over it all as this was her home stomping grounds, "Interesting." this file is read, and re-read more then once. "I have not been back to there in almost 50 years."

"I haven't had the chance to see who she was but her file reads like most of the rest. She was from the right family, the right background, her major was history here at the University and she was an excellent student. But so what? What set her apart enough that it got their attention -and- broke their tradition of only initiating men?" Marshall's thoughts start to ramble a bit but he continues to clean the old folders with the semi-damp cloth.

"I need to clean this off and get some fresh water," he explains and takes the cloth and the small bowl and heads to the lounge. "I'll be right back."

Lilian hmms "She bears some research." as she moves to pull out a battered older lap top from her satchel purse, and starts to open a few things on it. "She has something they needed."

When Marshall walks out of the room, a slight breeze or gust is created from him shutting the door. At the edge of the table, the pile of papers found within the odd, green folder is disturbed and a single page is blown to the ground.

Lilian moves to pick it up and well put it back after looking at it.

As lilian picks up the page, her eyes are caught by something curious about the blank sheet. Though it's completely empty of content, the watermark set into the material is unusual. It's not a symbol, or a trademark - if she had to guess it almost looks like a fragment of a blue print.

Marshall steps back into the room from the Chapter room with a cloth in one hand and a small bowl in the other. It appears as though he's been cleaning old folders of dust and grime - setting them on the tables to dry.

Lilian blinks, and smiles then moves to grab her little flashlight and shine it thru the page to see if it shows up better. "Spectrum of light needed." is muttered to her self, "Water mark from 1917...not water mark, faded ink?" hmmms.

Beep. Bloop! Beep!

That would be the first arrival of what literally looks like a Wall-E unit. It comes in, carrying a palette of produce and other fruits fresh from the farm, that soon marks the arrival of a certain Etherite.

Dressed in a floral sun patterned dress, she glances about, hrmming as she takes in the surroundings. Considering everything seems to pass muster, she offers a friendly wave and a cheerful hello. "Evening! I come bearing gifts or at least some food. It's better that it doesn't go to waste anyway." Glancing at Lilian, she curtsies as she makes her introduction. "Amanda Pierce, Chair of the Pattern Sciences in the Society of Ether. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Lilian looks over and then stands with a proper curtsy of all things, then "Lilian Handover Initiate Exemptus bani Skopos ordo Hermes." then seeing the food stuffs, "Oh that is most lovely and thank you for coming. We are still working on things." in a friendly and open tone.

Marshall turns his attention to Amanda and, more importantly, the Wall-E robot with her. He's of the right age to have been a child when the movie came out so his eyes bloom in surprise and wonder. "Oh WOW..." he can't help but exclaim. "That's...that's very nice of you," he tries to reel in his fanboy vibe.
