Oh four dark thirty is early for most people but not for all of the patrons of the New Hope Gym, its owner or its resident hacker. This morning finds Vic set up on the central room of the gym's apartments coding furiously on her laptop. The room is mostly dark but for the glow of her laptop and smartphone screens. The smartphone itself is playing music, the ultimate soundtrack mix for the Matrix series specifically. A mug of still hot coffee is perched on the edge of the low surface table she is sitting on the floor next to, its aroma permeating the area around her.

Raise wanders into the back room and heads for the kitchen. He pitters about a bit and soon the smell of bacon wafts through the air. Potatoes are frying and the eggs are about to go on.

Looking up from her work at the smell of breakfast cooking, Vic says, "Mmmm, smells good, fixing enough for two?" somewhat distractedly and immediately returns her attention to the screen as if the project is the most important thing in her world, more important than such mundanities as eating.

"Ohh geez! Vic I didn't see you there." Raise chuckles, "Enough for three actually. I always make extra when I cook here. The smell of bacon I think has a radius of a couple miles and tends to draw people like a moth to a flame. Do you like onions and cheese in you potatoes? Ohh and I made the eggs scrambled but I can throw one on if you prefer a different kind?" he seems very cheery and upbeat for this hour.

"Scrambled, yes good... add some hot sauce though perhaps?" is Vic's first answer, no nothing like not thinking of others there huh? And then, "Onions okay, cheese no. Not in the potatoes. In the eggs though yeah!" Again, who cares if others don't want cheesy eggs, she's to focused for such considerations. Then she says, "Unlocked mind. I think I'm going to be able to make this code alert me directly if there's a breach. At some point I may be able to expand that to alert others... like yourself... similarly," as if that makes sense to others and asks, "Would you be bothered by the computer being able to ping your brain though?"

Raise is busy in the kitchen cooking but you both can see each other through the half wall since the shutters are open, "Well I can do... most of that." he chuckles, "The cheese is good on potatoes you will see." when you ask him about the computer talking to him directly he ponders that for a moment before saying, "Is there any risk with letting a computer do that?" he then adds, "You are definitely trumping Silvana's previous programming, her just sends me a text message when there is an issue. I think magic will be a more solid solution to straight programming though." he seems to be plating up the food now, "I hope you are at a good breaking point because breakfast is one of those meals that really does not take long to cook." he carries two plates out to the kitchen table and then heads back into the kitchen, "I stopped by the market this morning and picked up some fresh squeezed orange juice... or I have bottles of other kinds of juice and whatnot." he peeks around the open doorway, "What's your flavor?"

"The OJ sounds awesome," Vic says as she tosses a quick comment into the code as a reminder of where she's at. Saving the file and then lowering the lid on the laptop she then says, "I was not at a point where it was impossible to take a break. Also, the new server is coming in today or tomorrow so I'll be able to begin setting it up and testing once I have the code finished."

Raise brings out a small pitcher filled with OJ and a couple glasses and sets them on the table before heading back into the kitchen. He comes back out and sets out a bottle of ketchup and Franks. He distributes the silverware and then heads back to the kitchen again and brings out a plate with freshly buttered toast and a jar of raspberry preserves, "That was quick. Well good getting everything upgraded is a good thing." he pauses and thinks for a moment before sitting down, "Breakfast is ready. Ohh and lets talk more about the computer accessing brains before you implement it ok?" he smiles and pours your OJ first and then his own.

"Dale and I agreed that express shipping was acceptable," Vic says as she puts the plate down on top of her laptop. She sips at her coffee before taking a bite of the hash browns and says, "The cheese is not horrible," about it before eagerly taking another bite in total contrast to the understated comment about them. "Its not so much accessing as pinging but... well, yes, if someone with the know how and the skillz," yes, you hear the Zed at the end of that word, "Got into the system, had the juice and the desire they could piggy back on the latent connection to be able to /attempt/ to influence or intrude on your wetware from a distance. There's a price to pay for power. But its not innately dangerous, Raise. You just have to trust the security of the system and the integrity of your will." She pauses, makes eye contact with him and pointedly asks, "Do you?"

Raise nods, "Ohh rushed shipping is fine. I'm sure he insisted on full insurance too." he chuckles and then nods along as you explain the contacting addition, "Well I am not up to speed with such things but maybe we can talk about this with Bobbi there so she can dumb it down for me and act as a sounding board for you. Having a non intelligent machine accessing a brain sounds complicated and I would rather take an extra precaution before jumping in both feet." he sips the OJ after having started in on his cheesy scramble, "Ohh man there really is nothing quite like fresh squeezed."

Vic nods. "I was just discussing magical theory with Bobbi yesterday. Between her and Merek I actually unlocked the Mind Sphere so much of this is theoretical at this point, haven't tried anything like it before but in theory it aught to be safe, with a firewall of course," Vic explains between bites and drinks of breakfast.

Raise smiles and nods, "Ok good. I am open to it but as you say with it being new I just want to be sure the right precautions are taken is all." He motions to your plate, "Not my best but pretty good right?" he smiles.

Vic nods to the first as if that was obvious. "Enjoyable, yes," she replies about the food. "Still a bit sore from last night's breakfast but the coffee's been helping," she pauses to sip the OJ and mmms. "Good job on this," she says holding the glass up in the air to show what she's speaking about before she sets it back down on the table between her computer and phone.

Raise looks to the glass and nods, "Mrs. Lopez at the fresh market takes care of me. I try to stop by as often as I can." he finishes up his potatoes and then asks, "So the other day I met up for the Fire Club. I was late and got there right as Bobbi tore open a portal to another dimension and they all were going through so I followed them." he pauses in his story to ask, "You come from another dimension right?" he then goes back to the story, "and when I got to the other side there was this bird made out of fire and Bobbi had three eyes and Branton had lava under his skin. It freaked me right out to say the least and the sky ohh my the sky was very different." he looks to you in earnest, "So they said this... dimension was called umbra. Is that the place you are from?" he seems very curious.

"No, the Umbra is... its like the space beneath the blankets if the surface of the blanket is reality," Vic says. "I'm from a different bed entirely," she says pushing the analogy farther than she aught to. Must be tired form an alnighter?

Raise nods but his eyes show his lack of understanding, "So... not the same place." he is still nodding, "Alright that is good that place seemed dangerous even if the others seemed to not be scared like I was. Got it... ok..." he takes another bite of eggs finishing them off as well, "So what were you up to last night? I hope work isn't what kept you up?"

"Well, before class I'd met with Bobbi then with one of her students, Evie... do you know her?" Vic is starting to ramble. "Then after class I got into a grove coding for the new server. May have to adjust it once the hardware is in but a groove's a groove, gotta follow the channel though to the end and all." She pauses to finish off the eggs and starts to use some of the hash browns to clean up any residue. "Breakfast time then happened so yeah, that was the night."

Raise chuckles and nods, "So I did keep you up all night. Well I appreciate your hard work. Is there anything I can get for you? I mean for the room or I could add a workstation or something for you if you wanted. Just let me know what might help?" he smiles and then adds, "Ohh or food, if you want anything specific just say so. I saw you liked the Code Red so got a couple cases."

Vic nods. "Code Red. IBC Cream Soda and Root beer. Hot sauce...." she thinks, "Yeah, we need hot sauce for adding to things. Raman's cheap and good. Especially with meatballs to add to it." She thinks and nods. "Yeah, and coffee."

Raise smiles and nods along, "So Ramen is all I need to add? There are rice noodles in the cabinet, are those close enough? If not do you want the kind that is in the cup or the square ones?" he adds as a second thought, "Hmm might not be IBC. does that part matter?" he starts clearing the table and takes a look in the pantry while he is in there, "The cream soda is IBC but the root beer is Barq's."

"Square. The cups have vegetables in it," Vic says as if that was obvious. "And yeah, Barq's is okay. IBC is light years better."

Raise smiles and nods, "Noted. Next trip to the grocery I shall make the appropriate corrections to the list. I keep Frank's for hot sauce. If you want something else I will leave you to grab it. There is just too large a choice selection for that product type."

"Tabasco's my preference but I'm sure Frank's'll work too," Vic replies tiredly. She sips at her coffee to correct her caffeine balance.

Raise nods, "Ohh we have that actually. I use it in recipe's but you can use it for whatever." he finishes cleaning up breakfast dishes and after a rinse loads the dishwasher and starts it, "So any big plans for the day?"

Nodding, Vic says, "Nap at some point, possibly a run, nothing major."

Raise makes his way back into the main room from the kitchen, "Sounds action packed. I better get out to the main gym. Shift changed while we were eating. Get things set up for the day. This was nice I might do breakfast here more often."

Vic grins and nods. "Yeah, thanks for that," she says, "It was enjoyable, both the food and the company."
