Images and Dreams - Main Room

When one enters the area, one can easily see the delightful cafe that has a bit of an eclectic, yet elegant look. The walls are made of deep red bricks that support the room and give the area a very sturdy appearance. Even the mortar is painted bright red. Perhaps the owner has a thing for this hue. Yet to contrast and compliment this shade are various paintings from Monet, van Gogh, and Thomas Kincaid. Other paintings from less known artists adorn the walls as well. The artwork is distributed in such a way to bring attention to the myriad of colors that breathe life into this location. Many scenes are of nature, others are of beautiful women, and one may even notice a few Pre-Raphaelites here and there.

So that people can admire the art at a close view, a variety of tables and chairs line the walls. There are at least six tables, some larger than the others and beneath them are seats made out of sturdy wood, perhaps oak. It appears as if the owner has spent a lot of money to furnish the place, as if the intent was to have a bit of a peaceful looking museum. The top of the tables themselves are made of a dark colored glass which further compliments the furniture. At the top of each table are fresh flowers that seem to be delivered daily. In every glass vase various types of roses give the tables a lovely, romantic scent.

On the left side of the room when one enters there is a moderately sized bar. The countertop appears to be made of a dark marble with golden flakes inside the slab. Holding up the slab appears to be a structure made of solid, cherry colored wood. Near the bar itself are six stools covered by dark leather. Behind the structure one can hear the hum of a small fridge and an ice machine, but these things are not evident to anyone's sight unless they move behind and see them. On the top of the bar are a few crystal covers holding some cakes and pies. It appears as if this establishment can serve small desserts and a few drinks, but it's not a huge restaurant.

There are some obvious exits to the main room. Right across from the bar on the right side are two small doors marked as bathrooms. These two small doors are not far from the glass door that allows people to come into the main area. At the very back right corner of the room is a dark wooden door marked 'Basement.' In the left corner of the room one can see a black metal staircase that winds up to the second floor. If someone felt a need to leave though, the main entrance has a sign with golden letters written in both Spanish and English. It says, "All are welcome to come and dream in peace." To add a bit of a fantasy touch, two unicorns flank the statement.

Trekome

Trekome is over at the bar sipping from a large cup of coffee and divying up a slice of cheesecake. He doesn't look to much worse for wear, at least nothing like earlier. Now he looks mostly just... well, blank.

Carolyn pulls up a stool next to Trekome, and orders a coffee. And cheesecake. Then she turns to study the marine. "Well?"

Trekome looks nonplussed at that question. "... well..?" Yup, no idea. "The cheesecake is good?"

"I wasn't really worried about that," Carolyn admits. "I was more wondering if you'd got your mad out of you. And then wondering when the interrogation would begin."

Trekome ohs! He nods quickly, "Yeah... not really pissed now... more... actually, I really don't know. Numb?" He shrugs and picks up his mug of coffee to take a sip. "And what interrogation?"

"Numb might be good. Sometimes you can think more clearly then. I'm ready to listen if you want to talk...or even yell. And I figured you'd be interrogating me on what Quinn and I were going on about, since she went all autistic on me." Carolyn gets her coffee and adds cream and sugar. Her accent is thickly irish, and her tone a bit acerbic, but those grey eyes are soft.

Trekome shrugs again and looks at his slice of cheesecake, cut into neat little even portions again. "I haven't actually felt a whole lot of anything since Afghanistan... I mostly fake it now. There's a little here and there, or it's just a lot of rage. Been meaning to see a shrink about that... but I didn't want it on any records since I wanted to get back in..." He looks up from the cheesecake and blinks. "I'm rambling, aren't I?"

Carolyn shakes her head. "No, but if you were I'd say ramble away." She sips at her coffee. "I've felt a bit of rage myself...more than a bit. When I got the word Jim had crashed, when I walked in on Amy and Ranger, other times... I just want to kill everything in sight."

Trekome nods slightly at that, expression still neutral. "Yeah... dad said the temper runs in the family... his was the worst out of everyone's, no clue how he managed it. I think that's why most of the guys in my unit let me have my space."

"Was the worst," Carolyn asks. "He still alive? Your father I mean."

Trekome shakes his head, "I thought Quinn told you... dad and grandpa died when I was 14 in a car accident. Mom died when I was... I dunno, 3?"

Carolyn shakes her head in turn. "No, she didn't tell me. she hasn't told me anything about you really, except you're a marine." She smiles faintly. "She hasn't come right out and said this, but it's also clear she pretty much worships teh ground you walk on."

Trekome snorts at that last part and smirks. He looks like he's about to say something, then looks confused. "Wait, seriously?" Clearly he's a bit dense in this department.

"Seriously. What? You hadn't noticed?" Carolyn shakes her head.

Trekome just blinks a few times before shaking his head slowly. "I really am kinda lost here."

Carolyn sighs and shakes her head. "Men." she mutters. "You know, it's a bit tempting to tell you 'nah, she thinks you're gay,' and then scoop you up myself. I was a bit attracted to you, you know." She sips at her coffee. "Bloody irish doom," she mutters to herself. Louder, so Trek can hear clearly, she adds, "We were looking at rings. She sat down, whipped out her iphone and asked me what I thought of one."

Trekome looks surprised at the first little revalation, brow arching a moment. He nearly knocks over his coffee at the second one, after connecting that Quinn possibly being attracted to him and rings. "That's not a funny joke." he says. There's a pause. "You're not joking, are you?"

Carolyn looks back at Trek and just bats her eyelashes at him.

Trekome just looks confused all over again. For someone who's a massive flirt, he doesn't seem to pick up on anyone being attracted to him in any capacity well.

Carolyn mutters, mostly to herself, "This is a really bad idea." She leans over and kisses Trekome, soundly. "No," she says as she sits back on her stool. "Serious on both counts." She shakes her head. "But... in the first case, I've satisfied the attraction and Quinn clearly, clearly, has something much deeper in mind, so you don't have to worry. Not about me anyway. Quinn, though, I think is going to chase you down and drag you off to a wedding before too long."
