"It is not light that we need, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake."

Full Name: Eszter Czarni
Date of Birth: December 23rd, 186 BC
Apparent Age: 18
Occupation: Landless Voivode
Demeanor: Autocrat
True Age: 2200 (Including Much Torpor)

Clan: Old Clan Tzimisce
Sire: Tunder Eszes (Deceased)
Childer: Numerous
Sect: Independent

Ancient: This Vampire is roughly seven hundred years older then the Sects. She fondly remembers the Kind huddling around their fires, fearing the monsters that would swoop down in the night. She remembers blood sacrifices and tribes. She remembers Rome. However, she has spent numerous centuries in Torpor, peppered throughout her existence. Entire swaths of Cainite and Kine history is missing in her mind, and she finds many of the changes startling and tragic.

Tzimisce: She is not plagued with the festering discipline of flesh-crafting. She finds the New Clan of the Tzimisce to be a pathetic sub-race of the original Kings and Queens of Eastern Europe. She can deal with them if she must, as she is all about politeness, but she sees them as degenerates. She, instead, practices the ancient arts of Fire, Water, Wind, Earth and Soul. She is a Koldunic Sorcerer.

Nothing: Eszter once had a vast Voivode, featuring dozens of villages, and numerous Cainites and Kine under her thrall. Now she has nothing. The passing years of the Long Night are cruel, and they are happy to make kings of paupers, and paupers of kings. She currently lives in an abandoned warehouse on the waterfront of Prospect, as she seeks to rebuild some tiny fraction of what she once had. Even a treacherous Childe has stolen almost all of her power through an insidious ritual. She's as weak as a kitten...and fucking furious.

Anachronism: She's been awake for a little under twenty years, and she's gotten current fashion down to a point. However, most technology disturbs her, and she does not trust it. She will not scream that a computer is witchcraft, as she isn't a loon, but she doesn't understand...and she hates what she does not understand. To Hell with firearms and cellphones, give her a trustworthy messenger bird and a strong steel sword.

Identity: Have you met Diana? Well, the two look identical, though Diana is a bit taller and probably cleaner. They're easily mistaken for one another! There are reasons for this, of course. There are no such things as coincidences.

Old Clan Hospitality

All of the following can probably be known with a Vampire Lore roll.

The rights and treatment of guests forms an indelible part of Tzimisce culture. There are many and archaic rules concerning deportment, manners, greetings, goodbyes, allowances, and settlement of grievances, but there are a few Clan-wide obligations that are always honored. A guest of the Tzimisce is entitled to several things:

  • Shelter and nourishment for three days and three nights (Not counting the night of arrival).
  • The protection of the host against third-party aggressors.
  • Suspension of inter-family grievances for the duration of the stay.
  • The best quarters in the home of the host (up to and including the host's own chambers)

However, the guest also has a few obligations that makes them worthy of such special treatment

  • A ritual exchange of gifts or services (on arriving, departing, or sometimes both).
  • Respecting the host's boundaries and property.
  • Not needlessly angering the host or any of his family
  • Not staying any longer than the requisite three days and three nights unless invited to.

The balance of these laws is to ensure that no advantage is taken of either the host or guest - a Fiend's honor can be completely shattered by infringing upon either one of these sets of rules. Given the warfare that exists between lineages of Tzimisce, exercising patience and honoring these laws is a way to ensure that there is always a sort of "neutral ground" where combative families can meet and prevent any further outrages.

The older a Tzimisce is, the more seriously they treat these laws, for they remember the nights when the only shelter to be had was in the domain of a rival voivode, when travel was arduous and only undertaken when necessary. Most elder Tzimisce respect these laws in the modern nights, but their grandchilder may not even be aware that these laws exist, much less still enforced in their ancestors' domains. Minor breaches can be forgiven, though some sort of effort must be made to show that the trespasser is apologetic. Major breaches can fix a Tzimisce's reputation in a very bad way - slaughtering guests during the day is a sure way to make sure no-one comes to visit you, or ever wants to make a deal.

As Ezter is exceedingly old, these laws are of paramount importance to her.
