How you get XP

Time

XP was awarded automatically for time spent IC.

You receive .01XP every fifteen minutes.

Votes

Players can use +vote for other players.

You can +vote for another player twice within a 24-hour period.

The value of a +vote varies from .25 to .01 XP.

The first votes in a cycle are for the maximum amount, and decrease in value after that.

The +vote cycle is a weekly cycle.

Noms

Players can +xpnom other players for their RP.

With each +xpnom a player can select up to seven categories to nominate other players.

Each category is worth 1 XP point.

+xpnom can theoretically be worth up to 7 XP, but 2-4 XP seems more typical.

After one receives a certain amount of XP (of any kind) in a monthly cycle, +xpnom XP stops counting until the beginning of the next cycle.

XP you receive from +xpnom after hitting your XP cap for the cycle are not awarded next XP cycle, they are lost.

You should always nom at least ACTING and CONCEPT, as per staff preference. They will almost always award these two.

Nom Processing

While you receive XP from IC Time or Votes automatically, you don't receive XP from noms until they are processed by staff. This can take anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks.

When you don't get XP

Time

After you have at least 10 XP, if your "IC Time XP Received" is equal to or greater than 50% of your "Total Lifetime XP" you stop receiving XP for IC time until your "IC Time XP Received" drops below that level.

If you have been logged in for more than 24 hours in a session, you will stop receiving XP for IC time during that session.

Noms

After you receive more than the cap amount of XP for the monthly cycle, XP from +xpnom stops to count.

The cap starts at 100 XP per cycle, drops to 75 XP for characters with 500+ XP, and drops again to 50 XP for characters with 1000+ XP.

The cap bracket does not count for the cycle in which you hit that total. It starts counting for the cycle after you hit that total.

This monthly cycle starts after you receive your first XP from +xpnom

Once this month ends, the cycle does not start again until you receive another XP from +xpnom

Cap Explanation

If you are not in the midst of a monthly nom cycle, you will not see "Nom XP Cap Base" or "Nom XP Cap Limit"

As soon as you receive a +xpnom the cycle begins being tracked.

Your "Nom XP Cap Base" is equal to your "Total Lifetime XP" at the start of the cycle and "Nom XP Cap Limit" is equal to "Total Lifetime XP" + your XP cap limit.

Once your "Total Lifetime XP" is equal to your "Nom XP Cap Limit" you stop receiving XP from +xpnom until the cycle ends.

You can end a cycle with "Total Lifetime XP" higher than "Nom XP Cap Limit" as you can still receive XP from IC time and +vote

When a new cycle begins, the cap is NOT equal to your old Limit + cap, it is calculated again as above.

Cap Example

A character starts a monthly cycle with 450 lifteime XP. Their Cap Base is 450, their Cap Limit is 550.

Once that character gets lifetime XP of 550, they continue to receive IC time and +vote XP, but do not receive any more from +xpnom until the new cycle begins.

This character then receives an additional 5 XP in IC time and +vote XP after they reach the cap, ending the cycle with 555 XP.

This character then receives an addition 5 XP while they have no cap, for a total of 560 XP. The 5th of which is from +xpnom beginning their cycle again.

This new cycle at the new cap tier begins with 560 Lifetime XP, a Cap Base of 560 XP and a Cap Limit of 635 XP.

Limiting Factors

If you IC XP time becomes half of your total XP, you stop gaining IC XP until you gain other XP. This only applies once you have earned more than 10 XP (otherwise IC XP would instantly stop at .01 XP until you got a vote/nom.)
