Born in Culiacan, Mexico to Tawney Welles-Alvarez, a Roma translator living in Mexico studying the diaspora from World War II, and Hector E Alvarez, a local rancher and real estate agent. In 2011, he and his wife were traveling to Veracruz on a mission to establish a new office for the Alvarez estate offices, and were gunned down by members of the Sinaloa cartel in a robbery-gone-predictable. The police did not find any suspects and the case remains as open and untouched as the other two dozen cases that year. The insurance money from their demise provided young Katia with the means to attend college in Salt Lake City, Utah and she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. She has no siblings. On June 4th, 2016 she was arrested for B&E on a parked Chevy Tahoe in Riverside, CA. Pleading guilty to the charge of theft III and breaking-and-entering, she was sentenced to forty-eight months jail time plus two years supervised parole. She served two years, six weeks of her sentence in Valley State Prison, CA, and was released for good behavior as well as overcrowding.
