Beipmu is a very advanced and flexible MU* client for Windows, though it works under Linux (Using Wine) and MacOS (using Sikarugir) as well. It has been in active development since 1998, and still is going strong, including an active Discord community. It has various useful features that can be used on City Of Hope, like: Actually active development! ( The last version isn't from 2007 ) Word Highlighting ( Find your name/terms showing up in poses! ) Spawn windows ( Have a window for OOC Chat, one for Pages, one for Channels... ) Gagging Lines ( Hide stuff that annoys you! ) 256+ color support! Different fonts and colors for each window! Emojis and support for UTF-8! Scripting in Javascript, Lua, Python etc. Save your logs as HTML! Spell checking! Lots more! Get yours today!
-- The Basics --
After starting BeipMU and clicking away the welcome screen, you will notice that you have these three icons at the bottom left: These are your bread and butter when it comes to setting up BeipMU, and configuring it to do what you want it to do. Here is a short description of each button:
-- "How do I use BeipMU to connect to City Of Hope?" --
First, click on the rightmost icon in the menu: After that, on the new screen, click "New" and choose "server": It will add a new entry in the Server/connection overview. Select it at the top left, and then start entering the necessary connection information. We just need two things: * The World/Connection name * The address:port to use for the connection. For City Of Hope, this is: game.cityofhopemush.net:8888 Do not click the "OK" button just yet! We are going to add a new *Character* to the World in the next step!
-- "How do I add characters to an already set up connection?" --
First, open up the Server/Connection window, like we did in the last step. Make *sure* to pick the right connection/world at the top left, if you have multiple already. Now, however, click "new" -> "Character": It will add a new character entry in the selected Server/connection. Select it at the top left, and then start filling out various information: The entry's name, your password, logfile name etc. We will go into a few things in detail: Name: This is *just* the name for the menu entry. You can name this whatever you want. Password: Fill in your actual character password here. Connect String: This is the command that you would normally type on the game's login screen, in order to connect to your character. On MUSH/MUX, this is: connect YOURCHARACTERNAME YOURCHARACTERPASSWORD If you use %PASSWORD% instead of your actual password, it will automatically be replaced by the password you entered in the separate password box above! Also remember, instead of your character name, you can also use your #dbref to log in. Idle setting: Activate this checkbox, and set it to 55 minutes. City Of Hope normally disconnects characters that are over an hour idle. Connect at startup: Personal preference. Do you want to automagically log in this character as soon as you start BeipMU? Log file: Click the button, and choose a nice location and name for your logfile! Append current date: I suggest enabling this. This will add the current date automatically to the logfile name each day. And with that, we are *done*! Click the "OK" button at the bottom.

We are back to our old friend, the three icons: The middle icon lets you choose a world and a character to connect to in a new tab: We only have one entry in this example, but as soon as you click it, you should see the City Of Hope login screen:
