The Institute provides instruction in several styles of Tai Chi, including, Yang, Chen, and Wu styles, for health, wellness, and self-defense. Experienced educators dedicated to preserving Chinese martial arts will lead you in lessons that emphasize balance, breathing, and inner stillness through slow, deliberate movements used to cultivate mindfulness and health for hundreds of years. Supporting and being supported by the Tai Chi curriculum, training in traditional martial arts such as Hung Gar, Wing Chun, and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu are included to offer a complete practice for a strong body, blending internal and external martial arts for a lifetime of improvement.

An intelligent mind is a calm mind, and the Institute offers literature and classes on a number of culturally relevant subjects, including languages like Cantonese and Mandarin, philosophy like Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, and Legalism, as well as making a number of classics available in the library. Guest lecturers are often invited to speak on a range of topics from deep drives on complex Buddhist koans, comparative analysis of Chinese philosophical concepts and Western culture, arts, and Chinese medicine. No matter your interest, there will be something for you to learn.

Meditation, while not required of an individual student at the Institute, is strongly encouraged to build a rooted spirit to support a strong body and a calm mind. Many types of meditation are available at the Institute, with the approach that no one form of meditation will be fit for all. Classes are available in Yoga, Zhan Zuang, Qigong, Chan (Zen), and Daoist Meditation to find the perfect practice for you.
