Military : Ferris spent more then twenty years in the Air Force, and rose to the rank of Colonel. He was a pilot for almost the entirety of that time.
NASA : Ferris has been a major force in NASA for twenty years, and until his accident, flew numerous manned missions. He's known by those who follow those kinds of stories.
Accident : Three years ago Ferris was on a manned mission to do maintenance on the ISS, and something...happened. He reported issues with his oxygen during descent, and there were issues with his parachute on his drop pod opening. Everyone expected him to have been killed on impact, but he miraculously survived, though he lost the use (Though retained the feeling) of his legs.
Fallen : During the War, this Angel mostly stayed to himself. In the beginning, however, he was one of the main Fiends involved in keeping the cogs and wheels of the cosmos turning. During the War he aided as an adviser, seeing the future of coming battles. In the end he took to the fields with many others, and when it came down to it he fought ferociously...but it was simply too late.
Paraplegic : While he retains feeling below the waist, Colonel Hawthorne can't move his legs. He stays in excellent shape, and has no wishes to be deemed a 'cripple'.
