Current Suggestions for Law Enforcement Characters

  • So you want to play a cop? Well, here are some things you should know! First off, all Police need the Sworn Officer Merit. This is a one (1) dot merit for PPD, a two (2) dot merit for Sheriff's Deputies. Civilian Employees (Forensic Technicians, Computer Techs, Accountants, etc) do NOT need this merit.
  • Must by 21 years of age by completion of the Academy.
  • Detectives/Investigators will also now require the two (2) dot Sworn Officer Merit for their characters as theirs is a larger scope.
  • Detective Characters be aware, there is no more free ride. Cases will be assigned and need to be worked on (Solved would be great but not always possible). "I'm a detective I don't answer radio calls" is not the environment here. Work loads will get spread out as much as possible.
  • We highly recommend making use of the Professional Training Merit (Preferably Cop or Detective, but others may fit)
  • Next, there are some skill requirements. This represents the basic core of training an officer would receive in California's Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.
    • Athletics 1 and Academics 2,
    • Investigations 1 (2 for Inv/Det),
    • Drive 2,
    • Firearms 2,
    • Weapons 1,
    • Brawl 1,
    • Computer 1,
    • Medicine 1.
  • Starting rank is Detective or Patrolman (Officer) only. Any higher rank must be earned on the grid through RP. (Similar to Family Status)
  • The following skills are also generally useful for Police Concepts:
    • Empathy,
    • Intimidation,
    • Investigation,
    • Larceny,
    • Medicine,
    • Persuasion,
    • Stealth,
    • Streetwise,
    • Subterfuge.
