Once connected by the red string of fate, one cannot escape.

The thread may tangle, it may stretch, but its bonds cannot be broken by anything...

Not even by death, time’s passage, or God's curse...

It felt strange to be breathing the air of Prospect once more, though she had long since lost the need to breathe. Vivianne had grown used to the scents, the sights, the smells, and the people while abroad. Yet, her heart pulled her home. David wanted to go home, politics were only his thing for so long, and she had not warned Brice where she had left to.

Brice. Her heart beat in her chest, once more, and warmed. A smile graced her lips. She missed him so. His ethereal beauty, his companionship, everything.

There was another she missed as well, but few to none knew. Sharpe. A pang hit her heart, for she missed him dearly, too. He was a man just as embroiled in international affairs as she was, she surely could have sent word where she went, what she was doing? Peace talks didn't make for good business for him, though. He thrived on conflict, really. Secretly, she didn't want him to stop the work she had done between the two nations, even though his intelligence and charm would have been more than up to the task of assisting her, especially in a culture where women were not permitted nor respected enough to speak in politics. David had done swimmingly, though, she noted with glowing pride and adoration. Nuclear warheads wouldn't be launched at Prospect any time soon, her self-appointed mission was a success.

Her heels clicked across the runway pavement, from her private chartered jet, heart beating rapidly at her thoughts, while her bodyguards flanked her. What had changed, in her absence? What would she walk into? Only time would tell.
