She grew up in france, visiting the middle east. Her mother ran amongst the highest echelons of french society, doing what she could to make sure Aaliyah followed in her foot steps. This is where Aaliyah discovered that, through the gift of gab, Aaliyah discovered she possessed a unique set of skills. She knew exactly what to say in order to get people to do exactly what she wanted them to do. Through this, she also learned how to get them to tell her precisely what she need them to all the way convincing them they found a confindate in her. Her Embrace Around 1950, Abu Dhabi and Dubai go to war with each other over their borders. A group of muslim extremists from Kuwait, who were recently displaced from their home, used the chaos from the dispute to devise a plan to kidnap Aaliyah as a form of retribution against her father and his company. They were successful in capturing her. Day after day, they would see how much pain she could take until she could escape their torture by passing out. Even then, they did not give her a break as they would capture scorpions and make them sting her unconscious body just to see what would happen. They decided to hide out in an abandoned archaeological site called Jebel Hafeet Tombs. On the eve of Ramzan, which marks the end of their religious fasting, half of the group goes to find nearby food one way, some the other, leaving only a few with Aaliyah. She waits until there is only one of them around, begging him to let her go the bathroom without everyone watching. He finally agree and walks her out of the stone hut. As she squats, she grabs a nearby stone and uses it to knock the man out. Taking his gun, she quickly kills the other remaining kidnappers and hides. When the rest come back, they unknowingly bring the war with them and bunch of fighting breaks and everyone kills eachother. Aaliyah's sire, who has been watching them ever since they got to the tombs as she was just woken up after being in torpor since world war 1 steps out from the shadows, savagely eviscerating all the humans present except for the kidnappers leader. Pulling him by the hair, she throws him on the ground in front of Aaliyah and tells her to return the favor. Deciding to let her mortal life die in those tombs, she was embraced into Clan Lasombra.
