OOC Notes for Helping Lives Bloom Committee

To Do List:

Auction - need to bbpost on coding board to get that setup (Denise will write up and get WC to look it over before posting it

    • UPDATE** - 8/28 - BBPost is up.

Food menu - Chandler will work on a menu for people to order food from. This could just be a simple object with descriptions of what can be ordered. But I was also wondering about having something more complicated and fun for players. Something where they can +order an array of food, and then have it served up to them in private emotes, so they can get the sense of being served up by professional waitstaff; have the sights and smells play out over a short period of time. Things like that. I have seen similar on Masq.org, but have no idea how it works. But I will look into this.

Venue - (Aug. 6 update) Denise and Chandler met with Phil IC. It looks like we are good to go to use the place. We'll want to make sure OOC that all is good and set to go here, but we can probably start advertising the venue for the event. Yay!

Update 8/25

I'm just touching base on the state of things with the Gala. Here is what I know so far (off the top of my head)

The Gala will be held on September 21st on the California Belle. We'll have two main RP rooms: One boasting the dinner and silent auction. The other boasting live performances for the crowd. I'm assuming people can hop back and forth as they chose, but we may want to schedule repeating blocks of activities of some sort. The idea is that someone can spend an hour in the diner to enjoy the food, listen to testimonials of the families that are there, listen to Chandler give a thank you speech or some such, etc. During that same hour, we can cycle through the performers: Oren and the band plays; Mitzi and Miyo dance; other live events follow, etc Then at the top of each hour (or maybe two?) we repeat the cycle. And we can do that three or four times through the event so everyone can experience all of the events. Thoughts here?

Dinner code: I am still thinking about making a dining object of some sort. If players want, they can view the dining object, order prixe fixe meals, and then the code will spam them the dining experience over the next fifteen or twenty minutes. Maybe less. In short, I was thinking about writing up descriptions of several meals: Aperitifs, hors devours, soup, salad, entree, desert, digestif. A full seven course meal. Each corse will be a paragraph of what is ordered, and server out every couple of minutes to the player via a @pemit or something. I'l need to find help with the coding.

Auction code: I was hoping we could have some sort of auction code set. I'm not exactly sure how to do this, since there is no money used in this world as such. We could do something with the finance background. People can bid their finance dots on a particular item? This will result in a lot of tied bids, but not sure what else to do. We should talk this one out.

Performance code: Maybe not needed? Might be best just to have the performers go up and emit a series of scripted actions/descriptions (perhaps links to specific songs that are being performed, etc). Each performer can play out a set of 5-10 descriptions posed every few minutes or something.

Family testimonials: I was thinking about having four objects representing four different families. Each could describe the family members there. Perhaps each could have a list of four or five +views on them that represent players talking to the families. Any thoughts here?

I was thinking about posting this on a wiki page so we can all add or remove items as the gala plans evolve.

@mail alias: I'm creating an @mail alias to include all the donors, investors and provides of the gala. I may end up with a couple lists, in fact. I just want a way to be able to loop in people involved in the gala. Particularly Liam (Chef), Phil (venue owner) and Oren (performer), who are part of the creation of this event in some way. Hopefully this list will grow a little as we find others to help.

That's all I have for now. @mail the group with ideas.
